I applied for the 2016 UCLA Alumni Scholarship. When should I expect to hear back about whether or not I got the scholarship?
they typically contact you right after admissions decisions.
@khanam do you know if the invite is given to specific people?
I spoke with the alumni association scholars coordinator to find out more and I was told that it is sent to their top 4000 applicants. Tried to get more info on what this means for admissions and got the impression that that’s a separate process but typically there is a high correlation on being invited to the asc and getting admired to ucla
thank you for the information! I am a little confused because I have a very low GPA and low SAT score. Although I am a theater major so I had to audition and interview for the school. Hopefully thats means I am in the top 4000 for talents. Do you know if the top 4000 is based on GPA?
From my own research for my daughter who was invited as well and from reading earlier threads, being invited to the ASC is highly correlated to GPA/SAT scores.
Your case is unusual. Maybe you were invited despite the low SAT/GPA score since SATs have zero to do with success in your major so who knows, they might be using other metrics to determine the best applicants for some non traditional academic majors? Either way, someone noticed your application. Take it as a good sign but it probably is not a guarantee of admission.
Thank you for the information! It is all so weird to me because of my different circumstances but we shall see
