UCLA Alumni Scholarship

this interview was the hardest one i ever had. i went to a usc one, and this one was just killer. You get 5 really random q's and 10 min for them. 10 min exactly. its just really weird and good luck if you get the interview

Thanks bucks06! I just got a call from my interviewer as well, and I am excited and nervous at the same time. Good luck to everyone else who will interview this weekend!

im actually really nervous. does this interview have any bearing on admission to ucla?

bummpidy bump bump

no, it does not.
it just has bearing over whether you get the scholarship ;)

i have an interview scheduled for this sunday...anyone who has has the interview already, how is it setup and what kind of questions do they ask you? Also how long does it take?

lets bump this baby. cuz im wondering the same thing.

Also bumping this. I have an interview this saturday and all I know about it is that it will be a panel style interview with seven people...sounds pretty intimidating...

I just got my e-mail for the interview. Does anybody know if all the people interviewed receive the scholarship? Also, for those that had the interview, how did it go?
Thanks!

it can be up to 10 interviewers.. and max time of 15 minutes..

this type of interview seems a bit difficult.. it relaly is goin to be more of an interview than a conversation.

my usc alumni one was only 2 interviewers!

The UCLA alumni scholars just called me today after doing my interview on sunday and they said that I won the 4,000 scholarship and that they want to meet me at college welcome day next week. Can anyone tell me more about this scholarship and how it works, like how hard is it to be invited to compete at the finals, and do UCLA alumni scholars receive any perks at ucla such as housing or parking or anything like that...?

they get higher parking priority
congrats on that, btw!

I just got a call a few minutes ago. I'll be interviewing this Sunday.

Does anyone know what really happens at the interview? Is it just Q&A style?

I'm interviewing Saturday.

3 specific questions to "learn more about you"

6-8 graduates will make up the interview panel (in my region, at least)

15 min. interview

business attire,

goodluck! :D

<><

Business attire? My caller said to come casual. I was going for a suit jacket with jeans. Is that too casual then?

Ahhhh. Tomorrow.

hermionetapper, i would suggest going business casual. that's what i did for my 1st round of interviews, but probably going even more business if you really wanna go for the award. I did'nt get in, but it was b/c i screwed up one 2 questions, but i could tell they were impressed by my formality.

Does anyone in CC want to share advice/experience about the second round of interviews (for the state competition)?

good luck guys! when's the welcome day anyways?

i had my interview last week, it was pretty scary - my interviewers were so freaking stoic but nice nonetheless. The questions were rather interesting and hard to answer - some were like essays like "this person once said...." Be prepared, stay calm, and SMILE!

btw, i got the scholarship.

I was interviewed last weekend as well, and it was really nervewracking. Questions were hard, I thought I ruined it, but turns out that I got the scholarship.

Just be yourself!
