UCLA any good for an interest in English (nothing in particular.. just around it). To be honest, I am the type of student who is almost completely unsure about where she wants to go.

If UCLA accepts me and I decide to go, I'm just wondering how well-rounded they are in terms of allowing me to explore my interests.

At this point, I am not asking about the area or where it is located - just basically, how is it academically and in terms of openness.

I’m an English major at UCLA. I find it’s a rewarding and flexible program.

As for changing majors, it’s simple enough to do, especially if you’re a first year.
Changing majors is only difficult if you’re switching between different “schools” at UCLA (like the Engineering school and the College of Letters of Arts and Science), because each school has its own requirements.
It can also be tricky if you suddenly decide to switch your major halfway through college, then find you don’t have enough time to fulfill the prerequisites.

Oh thank you so much! I don’t personally expect to switch majors that drastically, but it is good to know that tidbit of information.

Was UCLA your first choice for that major, did you consider that major once you were in, or etc.?

I’m an English major too, and I really enjoy it. I’ve liked 6 out of 7 of my English professors so far, which I think is a good proportion. I’ve discovered a whole period of English I’d never read before is now my passion!

And I came in declared as an English major, but it’s not difficult to go from undeclared to English - you basically just sign something.

Thank you SaltBruin! I feel more confident about probably going to UCLA (assuming I am accepted)!
