UCLA and UCB Engineering Admissions

Is it considerably harder if i apply engineering to these schools over their colleges of letters and sciences?

And even if i do make the school without applying for their engineering school, is it true that its nearly impossible to switch majors and enter the engineering department?

thanks a lot :)

All I know is that it's considerably harder if you apply to Berkeley as Engineering Undeclared or EECS.

yes to both those questions. it is EXTREMELY difficult to get into UCB engineering (UCLA is only slightly easier), as it is ranked in the top 3 in the country. LS has a higher admittance rate, but the requirements are still high. Also, admissions officers are wise to kids trying to switch majors after applying to a different section only because it is easier, so transferring to a different program is tough. You have to maintain a great GPA, and still have the scores, etc. to get in.
