UCLA and UCB History majors

please post your stats

helllooooo, are you telling me there aren't any history majors out there?

I was thinking about double majoring by adding history also. Do you know if poli sci and history have classes that cross/count for both

well, for my community college i had a few classes like that. History 106 had to do with Russian politics.

I was checking out the History Dept website for Cal and now I know why all the history majors want to go to UCLA instead. In order to major or double major in history, you have to complete a 30-50 page essay. UCLA doesn't have that requirement. If I were to write a freaking novel, I'd better be getting a phD for it.

Amen! I'm a history major...still pending at UCLA, though. There were a million of us on this board a few weeks ago -- where did everyone decide to go to school?

I am a history major and still waiting for my admissions decision from UCLA. My GPA when applying was 3.53, and I am a member of the Scholars Program at Santa Monica College. Does anyone have ruminations concerning the admissions process at UCLA? Why is it taking so long, and is there any link between delayed admission results and acceptance rates? Where can I find this sort of data?

30-50 page essay? What the heck for?

The U of M has no prereqs for history, but I will have completed a good portion fot the requirement by the time I get there.

UCLA has a real Jesuit priest on their faculty. He teaches Medieval history. That's ****in' awsome!

UCLA requires 4 lower division courses to qualify as a history major. Two courses in western civ. and two courses outside of western civ. My counselor informed me if you are a transfer hopeful to UCLA and haven't completed these pre-major requirements, forget about it. Regardless of GPA.

I've already written one 60 page paper and one 45 page paper. That's long, yes, but definitely doable. I personally would love to double major in History. I've already taken the pre-reqs including many that weren't required.

Oh, yes.....we had a Jesuit priest at my school who taught World Lit. and English Lit. Smart guy, yes, but no really a good teacher.....which is sometimes the case.

Wow, Berkeley's requirement seems.....pretty strict. Well, good luck to whoever has that thing hanging over their head.....:)
