I applied into both UCLA and UCBerkeley for engineering, but I have since realized that I would rather major in computer science within the college of letters and science at both schools because I really enjoy my APCS class, I am good at it, and I also feel I have a much better chance getting into letters and science. I know I can request to change the major I applied to via email, but the issue is that the last sentence of my personal statement says something along about how I want to pursue my dream of becoming an engineer. The rest of my personal statement relates my love of math to my love of the arts. Should I request to change the major I applied to, or will this work against me?
UCLA CS is in its engineering division.
UCB offers CS in L&S and as EECS in engineering.
