<p>Hey!</p>

<p>What are the acceptance rates like for UCLA and University of Michigan into medical school?</p>

<p>I'm choosing between the two atm (it's proving very difficult :() and this is a factor...</p>

<p>Ive heard research etc. at UCLA is more extensive/better, but the med school acceptance rates are only 50%! Does this mean it's easier to get into med school from Michigan, or that it prepares you better?</p>

<p>Michigan is a pioneer in undergraduate research. It was one of ten universities receiving the first NSF RAIRE Award (Recognition Awards for the Integration of Research and Education), back in 1997.</p>

<p>Michigan’s annual research spending today stands at $1.33 billions – second only to John Hopkins.</p>

<p>U-M’s Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) turns 25 this year. Today more than 1,300 freshman and sophomore students and 700 faculty are engaged in diverse research partnerships under this program. You can do research in the first semester of your freshman year; all you have to do is sign up.</p>

<p>Generally speaking, research opportunities will be tied with the size of the faculty, overall research activity and availability or resources. I think Michigan has the edge on all fronts. </p>

<p>As far as placement, I think UCLA and Michigan have the two largest number of students applying to (and enrolling in) medical school. Only two elite Medical schools publish extensive data on the undergraduate institutions represented, JHU Medical and WUSTL Medical. Both Michigan and UCLA do well.</p>
