UCLA AP Credits

Hey guys,
So I was recently admitted to UCLA for electrical engineering. I am currently signing up for AP exams right now and I don't know which ones to take for credit at UCLA.(for whatever courses I get credit for)

I can take: AP Stats, Calc BC, Econ, Gov, Environmental Science (Pretty sure about stats and calc, not sure about econ gov and environmental science)

I have already taken AP Eng Lang Comp, Chemistry, and APUSH and done well on them.

Thanks.

You get units for all of them. The only AP classes you don’t get units for are multiples in a language, calc or physics. Calc BC and Econ will get you course credit, though the units are important too.

The direct link to AP credits for the engineering school is [AP Credit - School of Engineering and Applied Science - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/APCreditEN.htm).

So this means that I would get course credit for all the 5 AP exams I take and I will be able to skip some classes (which is my ultimate purpose?)

No, you would not get course credit for most of them. Most are just empty units (potentially helps with enrollment times, but otherwise useless).

The ones that actually give course credit are the ones that have a number in the “Title/Course #” column. eg: Calc, Psych, English, Econ, and foreign languages. You can’t apply the course credit for a GE credit either (IIRC). So the only ones useful to you as an EE in terms of getting rid of course requirements are Calc and English.
