Ucla appeal wait

Who else appealed for ucla as a transfer? Any sociology appeals out there? This wait is making my days go by so much slower.

Hi, I appealed to UCLA also however with a different major. Does your admission status state the date “May 1st” or “June 1st”?

@uclabounded it does say May 1st, Im pretty sure its a typo on their part.

Mine says may 1st also. I hope they will release decisions by June 1st tomorrow

@5nonnegotiables‌ did you sir anywhere else yet? I got into irvine but I’m also hoping to hear news tomorrow so I haven’t sir’d yet

I was worried that the system might go down or have problems tomorrow or something, so I just submitted my sir to ucsb today. I wanted to wait too, but didn’t want to chance it. It took about 30 min to accept and do all this stuff for accepting… so plan on that. If I hopefully get into ucla the $100 deposit is non refundable, but I wonder if I can transfer it to ucla. I went to ucla admissions and they said it should take about 15 days from when u submit till when u hear back. I don’t know if that is business or calendar days. When didn’t submit? Why do u think u will hear tomorrow? Do they let you know on weekends? I heard irvine is really hard to get into so that is a great backup plan. Where r u at now?

@5nonnegotiables‌ Well I submitted my appeal on May 2nd, but I heard its anywhere from 2 weeks to a month or so after may 15th that you hear back. I mentioned hoping to hear back tomorrow because I did a little digging in the past appeal threads and many people heard back on the 1st.(Im assuming its because thats when UCLA officially knows how many slots might be available due to the SIR deadline).

Not sure if they let you know on weekends but you never know :o.

Im at a community college right now, was really bummed from the original decision because all my friends go to UCLA, and that I tried extremely hard to get there from where I was in the past.(bad decisions bad grades turned into good grades and such). Yeah for now I’m trying to see Irvine as a positive I guess, Ill just be far away from the family and everything because I live in L.A so it sucks at the same time. UCSB will be a lot of fun :P, if god forbid yours doesn’t go through.

Two wks or a month after may 15? I thought it was 15 days after the date you submitted it? ok, the 1st… thats good to know. I guess that makes sense, or on the 2nd, when all the sirs are officially in? I dont know about wknds either, but i was thinking that they wouldn’t.

Are you in the ucla area for admission in la? Like where i live in SD, we have that for each school: ucsd and sdsu and cal state sm, were they give preference based on where you live in the county, over others? Irvine to LA is not far, but if you got into Irvine, you have a great shot at ucla,because that is a competitive school, but I think it’s just there is not enough room for all the qualified students. Hopefully your reason for appeal gets you in.

@5nonnegotiables‌ yeah I called admissions and thats what they told me about a week ago. Does make sense hopefully a bunch of people for our majors end up going elsewhere haha.

Yeah Im like 15 min away from UCLA. How come you dont go to UCSD?

Bleh Irvine is close enough I guess but Ill still have to get an off campus apt there instead of commuting. Its an hour and a half drive. Honestly I heard from admissions, councilors(even UCLA councilors) and friends that It was my lowish GPA so my Appeal is based on that and major hardships that I didn’t list/forgot because I wrote about so much, in my original application.

Goodluck to both of us my friend :l, I feel like we were the only 2 transfer students to appeal here

try to submit housing application and see if you were admitted. good luck

@zdyyyy housing app? Do you have a link to it? And thank you!

@5nonnegotiables‌ try the housing thing!

Did any of you guys have luck with the housing trick?

@only1withpower‌ I live right near ucsd, basically my whole life. So I love sd, but want to go away to school. I didn’t even apply to any sd schools. Also I want a better greek life than ucsd and I’d be hoping to live in my sorority at ucla. What’s your gpa?

Sounds like you have a good reason for your appeal and for them to give you a shot.

Also I saw stats for admission transfer appeals and its pretty good odds actually.

@zdyyyy‌ @only1withpower‌

Did someone really see they were admitted by doing that? Will we get in trouble by trying?

What do I do… Create a ucla log on id first?

Ok I created a login. I hope I don’t get in trouble for doing this

Did you guys try it out? Any luck? What did it say on the housing message?

bad message

@zdyyyy did u hear back

nothing… but I think we will hear that soon
