UCLA APPEALS -have you heard yet?

my friend sent her appeal about 2 weeks after her rejection and was accepted to UCLA about late april.

what was her major and basis for appeal? Just curious...we are still waiting..25 days total

major was political science

basis for appeal: i think she included some new info and what not, but according to her, she thinks it's the letter that her principal wrote for her saying that she deserved to get in that was the kicker.

she's also ranked 9th in a highly competitive public h/s and has a gpa higher than 4.5 (probably maxed out for UC weighted).

wow....4.5 is pretty impressive...glad to hear she got in...

bump

anybody?

oh and she basically included 3 parts in her appeal: cover letter, resume or brag sheet, and finally the letter from the principal.

DAY 26 AND STILL WAITING...Do you think my son should call the theatre department and tell them he's STILL interested?

And if he DOES get in, will UCLA still have housing for him?

I know this thread is about UCLA appeals, but I was wondering if anyone got into UCSD on appeal. I was notified last Friday that I got in but I don't have guaranteed housing. I would definitely go to UCSD if I have housing but they won't let me know until mid-July at the earliest. Does anyone know of anyone else in my situation and what they are planning on doing about UCSD housing. Also, anyone care to guess what my chances of getting housing is. I signed up on their waitlist Monday morning as soon as the waitlist opened up. The housing person said that they have more people than spaces for those that are guaranteed housing, and they are waiting for cancellations and rescinded admissions to alleviate the overcrowding. After that the waitlist people get in.

mtlvrmom, i suggest you have your son call and check to see the status of his appeal. the theatre department is more difficult though, because their numbers are capped. but do emphasize your desire to attend, especially since how the SIR submission date has already passed. good luck!

Rejected. UCLA sucks.

tenniscraze, my condolences go out to you. To be honest, considering how hard it is for colleges to reverse rejections...I hate having to be left on a cliffhanger with that little bit of hope. In a way I kind of wish they would just reject me already for the second time so that I don't have to feel all mixed up anymore.

Oh well. tenniscraze, when did you send out your appeal?

I also emailed UCLA and their response wasn't anything I didn't aready know:

"There is no cut-off date on when we will respond to your appeal. Typically, we would respond within three weeks. However, in some cases a response can take much longer."

No kidding. rolls eyes

sorry to hear Tenniscraze that you got rejected...they sure took a long time to respond. I forget what your alternate plan is.

I am going to have my son call tomorrow. 27 days is just WAY too long.

I just e-mailed them today. Well, technically yesterday (12:14 AM PST here). No response as of yet.

Blah, turned down.

Sorry to hear you were turned down. Their loss! What are your plans now?

My son called UCLA today...they said he would hear in the next 3 weeks. We're waiting on pins and needles.

eh, I'm going to UCI...

UCI is a great school with a great locale..right in Orange County with lots of things to do.

Mtlvrmom, good luck with the appeal. I know when we were waiting for the ucsb appeal it seemed like an eternity. I hope you find out soon!

Good luck mtlvrmom. If it's any comfort, I heard from UCSD about a week ago on that I got in on appeal. Just be prepared to make a decision fast because they only gave me one week. They posted the appeal decision on the website Thursday night, called the house on Friday to let me know, and then mail a letter that did not arrive until Tuesday. At first they wanted a decision on the Monday (3 days after first notifying us on the website and phone) but then decided that that didn't give enough time. They gave me until Friday to have the letter in the mail and postmarked.

I had SIR'd to Davis so I called them to see when I had to cancel. They said that you can't have 2 SIR's at the same time and that I would need to cancel Davis before sending in my UCSD SIR. I ended up faxing a letter to Davis on Friday after I mailed my UCSD SIR. So, if your son has already accepted an offer at another UC make sure that you cancel.

One whole month and still waiting...Boy, time sure has passed by fast, hasn't it?
