And a 2 point perspective hand drawing

cinamint can you post your portfolio pics? also which major classes you’ve taken.

Going to post the link tomorrow when I get home (at the bf’s)

majors level classes include

Intro to Arch
general survey of the field and profession

Visual Communications I and II
classes covered hand drafting, cad, rhino 3dmodeling,maxwell render, photoshop, illustrator, and how to represent design ideas through diagramming, narrative, and layout.

4 Architectural Studios
covering a wide range of design challenges in the urban context through site analysis, program relations, circulation, context, etc. These are basically the classes where you spend 8 weeks designing a relevant building in response design objective presented by the site and function. LOTS of research and conceptual analysis too…there’s SOOO much that was covered in these classes…it would be impossible for me to even begin.

History of Architecture A and B
covers the history of arch from the earliest of times (Stonehenge) till the Medieval. Then picks back up from Renaissance till Modern

Materials and Methods
A survey of different materials and their structural quality and capacity. Also an in depth final group survey of a non conventional material(your choice)and its applications of structure and potential.

The arch program I come from has suuuper high standards and is actually a preparatory curriculum for the five year arch degree offered at accredited schools like SLO, Sciarc and Woodbury. We also have 3 professors who are UCLA March holders. Judging from what I saw at the UCLA arch open house, a lot of what they cover is sooo similar to what I’ve spent the last two years doing at CC, but it’s been my dream to go to UCLA since before I even knew I wanted to be an architect so I’ll stick with it. Besides I’ll only have two more years before I can apply for a Masters instead of three!

damn i’m so jealous!!! i don’t have a decent architecture program within 50 miles. welllll i shouldn’t say that. pasadena cc is 54.5 heh

nmproarm im surprised you didn’t get in

ya, i was maybe a little surprised that cinamint got in, until she posted her classes - they’re pretty solid. mine are mainly drafting classes and most of them don’t transfer, which bring my gpa down to a 3.4. 10 of them i got A’s and 1 C. but you’re GPA is higher than the average admitted for last year. and you finished your igetc so i’m even more surprised that you didn’t get in.

ADMITTED: NO

IGETC/TAP: IGETC, Honors Program (would be TAP certified, but GPA was too low)

i saw your other post, your gpa is low, obviously that hurt you. your portfolio…i would get rid of the hand and the scribbles. keep the scribbles if you can somehow integrate it into a design idea. the middle one is really cool though.

do you think i would still have a chance if i appealed?

i’ll tell you if you keep everything in one thread. oh wait, i already did.

honestly though…I don’t feel that GPA is the deciding factor in Arch. The things that sets you apart is by ALL means your portfolio (essay slightly too I guess).

GPA is secondary…if your portfolio wows them, and you have a 3.1…you are a better candidate for their program than someone with a 3.8 and a non impressive portfolio. Remember guys, its pretty hard to maintain a SUPER high gpa in arch seeing that a lot of the studio classes are subjective. its like this: If you’re a hard worker you will by no doubts get that B, to get the A on the other hand, you must be the best of the best in your class. That is SOOOOO entirely hard, especially in such a competitive major where there are no routine criteria to base what is the “best” on. Its all about how well you present your ideas to the class, professor, and review panel and how well those ideas are executed(once you get in)

cinamint what do you think of mushimoros? portfolio. also, i wanna see youuuurs!!!

alright here’s mine. I do admit, having all those classes helped…also I think the main difference between mine and someone like Mushi’s is that his is just pure image…no process or project description. Including some of that helps the adcom sooo much in gauging whether your design ideals flow with the departments. But I also agree that the second image is pretty cool. If only he included some sort of analysis or iterative process in regards to it that page would have been brought up that much more in coolness…
