<p>I made this thread for anyone who was admitted/rejected in the art program. You can post your stats and portfolio pics of you want.</p>

<p>Admitted/Rejected: Rejected
GPA: 3.5
CC: Cabrillo College
IGETC: 2 remaining will be completed after spring semester
Pre-reqs: Only 3 art classes completed, 2 art histories completed, and 1 art class IP. I took a ton of French classes when I could have taken more art.
TAP: not offered at Cabrillo
EC: None
Personal Statement: prompt 1 - very good, prompt 2 - very good
Portfolio: I omitted 1 portrait from here that was commissioned, so it is not part of my personal collection. 4 of the images I submitted are high school work.

IGETC: finishing Bio/Philosophy this semester
Pre-reqs: between 25-30 units worth
TAP/TAG/HONORS: NOPE! had started out doing honors until UCLA art rep. said it wouldn’t really make a difference to them (duh.)
EC: none
Personal Statement: I could stand to read it again after I submitted it so it must have been decent. but I don’t think this is quite so important.
Portfolio: Where all the decision is! I think they liked my concept or something. Here’s a few. Oh, it’s strictly B&W film photo. They’re kind of dark, sorry!</p>

<p>^^Thanks. A couple of them are charcoal. Most of the portraits and figure drawings are graphite.</p>

<p>nice work you two. i was wondering if i could double major in art at ucla; waiting to hear back from them. ucsc denied me for art… i guess my stuff is too “illustrative”.</p>

<p>alas. maybe i’ll make my million doing kid’s books.</p>

<p>^^Really? Denied by UCSC’s art department? I passed the review, but their art department is very small and not the best. I haven’t heard much about UCLA’s art department either. What other school’s did you apply to?</p>

<p>oh boy, i’ve accepted at ucsc, ucdavis, ucla, stony brook, university of new hampshire; and most of those schools say i can double major in art (except the denial by ucsc).</p>

<p>waiting on berkeley, cornell, dartmouth, stanford, yale. berkeley says i can double major as well, but i’ll have to pass a portfolio review. most of my stuff is super old, save for some paintings i’ve been working on in class.</p>

<p>Thanks. I am still deciding where to go between UCSC and UCSB. I live in Santa Cruz, so I might prefer a change of scenery. My first choice was UCLA, but it is what it is. I don’t expect to get into Berkeley either with a 3.5 gpa. I am leaning towards UCSB.<br>
I wouldn’t worry about UCSC’s rejection. It looks like you already got into some great schools. Best of luck!</p>

<p>thanks t-rav! and to you as well. don’t give up on berkeley; your essays and such matter too. i have a 3.5 and my hope is alive. (ha ha, poetry)</p>

<p>I just want to applaud all of you for pursuing art as a career. I’m going to UCLA as an art history major…it was too difficult for me when I was younger to have anything I made judged. I still draw now and then for fun and I took a couple of drawing classes at my cc before I figured out what major I wanted to pursue, but I still don’t think I would ever have the guts to submit anything for review. Bravo!</p>
