xm1chelle, I just sent mine in yesterday. =/

Is there anywhere to view if we have a bruindirect account set up?

^ they send you a letter stating that the account has been set up.

Should we have received that letter by now? 'Cause I sent in mine the week it was due and I haven’t gotten anything…

If we don’t receive that letter close to the tuition deadline, does that mean financial aid will be mailed via check, instead of via the bank account?

I never got a letter and it’s been since the start of July when I sent in all my stuff. I called the Financial Aid Office and hey told me mine was set up about a week or two after i sent stuff in.

Listen through the intro, or press 0 then 2. (0 is return to main menu, skipping the intro message. 2 gets u to the line about BruinDirect, eFAN etc)

EDIT: ^ Possibly. If BruinDirect is not set up, it will be mailed to your “permanent” probably home address.

Thanks, polaricechick and MrSpam. =D

Thanks everyone, and thanks for the number, silvercross. I’ve been calling the wrong department all this time! No wonder no one gave me a concrete answer. Hahaha.

xm1chelle, if you don’t have a bruindirect account set up, then the first time, you can request the check to be put on hold and you can pick it up in person. Every time after that though, it will be mailed to your permanent address.

^^^ Yes, make sure you know how to differentiate between UCLA FAO and UCLA SFS (Student Financial Services).

DOES ANYONE know what the NEW 2009-2010 UCLA Den T SHIRT looks like? I’ve been looking everywhere but can’t find it

how does work study work? i’ve looked at the bulletin and found a couple of jobs i wanted but do i just call/email the employer and ask for an interview to be hired for the job?

and im still confused about the whole housing payment. do you pay for housing and other bills with the money you recieve from the financial aid check? this whole financial aid stuff has me confused.

how do u pay for housing?
how do u pay for other bills such as fees assessed to ur card by purchasing stuff with the card?
what can u use ur card for?
where does the money from financial aid go to if it doesnt automatically pay for housing and tuition?

^ first, you can only do work study if you are getting financial aid. I say this because some students think that they can do work study even when they are not qualified. There should be requirements on the bottom of whatever position listed. Some might say you need to know excel, powerpoint, outlook, and word. Some might not even require all of that. If they ask for a resume and a cover page, email them that and the interviewing person will contact you. When the job listing first came out, I immediately emailed for 20 position and got only 2 responses back. Luckily, one of them was what I wanted to do. I was very fortunate to get this position because my “boss” interviewed 70 people for only 2 positions. He ended up looking at my resume and calling my other job for reference. I suggest you hurry up and contact them. My boss said that there are limited positions now because of the budget cuts.

Oh and also- if your position needs you to require a knowledge of MS Word and excel, I heard that there is an exam that you have to take?? It’s basic things and you take it when you finalize your position. Not sure about this one… but there was a thread on this before. Good luck!

so should i email all the employees first that im interested in the job or just call them first.

i thought that should be the first step and if they are indeed hiring, i’d probably send them my resume immedietly

damn i was hoping shirt finalist #2 would win, but i guess this one is ok, i think its too plain though, i wish the bear was brown or something with more colors on it

i like it, kinda similar to the one 2 years ago… i thought last year’s was too flashy and kinda weird that half of the bear is cut off… maybe they can make the bear more intimidating :)

Except for last year there hasn’t been much variety in what Den Shirts look like.
