UCLA Bar - for those questions that take less than 5 posts to answer...

its a classic traditional design didn’t need to be changed anyway

I’m looking up my textbooks on the UCLA store site. One of my classes, History 8A with Terraciano, has five books, however, two of them are listed like this:

Author/Title - Publisher BD,ED,CP - Req - New Price - Used Price

Terraciano, APS Brief History Of Colonial Latin America - APS Paperback - Required

New N/A - Used Price Unavailable

Terraciano, APS Colonial Latin America - APS Paperback - Required

New N/A - Used Price Unavailable

What exactly are these? I couldn’t find any of these titles through even a google search, so are they supposed to be in-class materials or something?

perhaps they are course readers?

Hi, i am looking to purchase my chem 14a books…I found the actual txt book and soultions manual much cheaper online than from ucla. however, i noticed that ucla sells the package with the model kit and student survey.

Do i need the model kit and student survey for the class or is it something that is not used?

Thanks for the help!

Can anyone tell me the process of doing our laundry (i.e. where are the laundry rooms located? how do we fill up our bruincards with money for laundry? what’s usually the best time to do our laundry? etc)?

^ there are little ATM-like machines around (i know one of them is in lobby area of Covel commons) where you can “charge” your bruincards with money by inserting cash.

If you are a transfer, can you stretch out your classes to stay there 4 years after you transfer? How could it be done?

thanks

My brother’s in his 4th year after transferring. Basically don’t take a lot of classes and keep waffling on what you want to major in.

What excuse would you tell your parents?
Wouldn’t they say “it never takes that long”

Thank you, nodnarb.

To TheHutt: Yes, “APS” means that those are readers, printed somewhere on campus, I believe. You could check BruinWalk or Facebook for them, but Amazon and Half.com usually don’t carry them.

Can anybody give me an estimate of how many plugs there are in each room? I’m trying to see if I really need to bring a power strip or not.

you will need to bring a power strip, i believe theres 4 on each side of the wall (which probably isn’t enough for a triple)… i know i had to use 3 power strips on my side (shared with my other roommate, 2 computer, printer, clock, 2 monitor/tv, 2 speaker set, ps3, gamecube, router, 2 fans, 2 ipod charger… long list :D)

Yep, bring a power strip or two. Unless all you have is like a laptop and cell charger.

I think the plaza rooms have I think 8 per side? 4 behind the desk, 4 next to the bed, and then 4 below the center of the window. But the ones next to the bed aren’t really accessible unless you don’t mind having a large gap between your bed and wall.

I had…laptop, printer, alarm, speakers, TV tuner, fridge, microwave (shh!), cell charger, camera charger, external hard drive, external optical drive, lamp…probably more that I forgot.

My friend is helping me move in (along with my family), but my family is getting a hotel room Saturday night so that they can drive home Sunday night. It’d be really awkward for him to stay with them, so we were hoping he could sleep in my dorm room on the floor or something. Is that allowed? Also, he’s driving his own truck so would I be able to get some sort of overnight parking permit for him that day?

yea its allowed. you have to ask your roommates, though.

great, thanks! i’ve already asked them about it so it’s fine. does anybody know how/if i can get some kind of parking permit for him? i know it’s insane to get parking @ LA so i’m concerned about that. if there’s no permit, where’s the best place to park?

yes you can get parking.

[UCLA Parking Map](http://www.transportation.ucla.edu/portal/maps/parkingmap/0206UCLAParkingMap.htm)

he can park in lot 11. just go in it, park, go to the little box and pay for a ticket. something like 7 or 9 bucks a night i think.

awesome! thanks for the help (:

Thanks a bunch, kick53rv3 and VTECaddict!
