Its $10 now.

what’s the best or cheapest way to get to ucsb? i dont have a car and i’m clueless with public transportation ha=\ do i have other options besides the greyhound or amtrak? like other buses or trains idk

One thing to be aware of is that parking permits are only good until 7am the next day. However, you may be in luck because they usually bend these rules or revoke them altogether for some lots during move-in weekend. Just explain what you want to do to a parking attendant and they’ll tell you the policies for move-in weekend.

You guys reckon I can fit a 23 inch widescreen LCD monitor and a 15 inch laptop on the desk they give us?

yeah it’ll fit easily i seen people with over 26 inch monitors on their desks

is toilet paper provided in the triple-suites bathroom.

How big are the carts that we can use for move-in day? I’m putting my luggage in boxes and the box is pretty big so I don’t know if it’ll be able to fit in the cart.

Yes, and the front desks have more if you run out.

They’re pretty big. I wouldn’t worry about being able to fit boxes inside.

thanks for letting me know! i’ll make sure to remember that

when do loans get disbursed? i finally applied for one yesterday, finished all the paperwork (i think)… does it automatically just go into my bar account? and when?

[UCLA Financial Aid Office - Calendar](http://www.fao.ucla.edu/calendar.htm)
" 09/14/09 - Financial Aid money disburses to BAR and fees are paid. [AKA, pays off your bar account balance]
09/15/09 - EFT Refunds Issued (check with Student Accounting). [I’m assuming this means it goes into your personal account if you signed up for BruinDirect]
09/17/09 - Paper refund checks mailed (check with Student Accounting). [If you didn’t do BruinDirect, they’re mailed to your permanent address or home address.]"

Anyone use the free weights at the wooden center? I’ve only done cardio there since it seems like there are always a massive amount of people at the free weights. What’s the proper way to share the free weights if they’re all full and also what is the best time to do free weights or do they not get full that often?

I’d just like to start doing free weights but I’m a noob and if all the benches of w/e are taken I don’t know proper gym etiquette to share or anything lol.

you can just ask if you want to rotate sets, or say can i use them after you. best times i found were around noon-2pm and early in the morning

How will the classes be like on Thursday and Friday (especially when you have the discussion before the lecture)? I mean, I know that each class is different, but how are the classes generally like during the first days of school?

If you pledge and are given a bid as a first year this upcoming rush, at what point can you move into the fraternity house? Does the money paid towards dorms transfer over?

Thanks

@omegared, I wouldn’t move into the house your first year. Make friends outside of the house so you can open up your network, you’ll always have the house for later years. Although, I’m not sure of the timeframe.

I’m writing my resume right now for work-study jobs on campus. I’m dorming, so should I put down my home or dorm address?

EDIT: Should I even bother to put my home phone either?

you can move in i think up to like november. a buddy of mine in my frat pledged last fall, hated his roommates in his dorm, so moved into the house.

like deuces said, wouldnt recommend it, but if you can. its cheaper too ;]

silvercross: I just put my permanent home address and my cell phone number on my resume. And you’re a bit late man. Work-study jobs were posted like August 17… I started sending out resumes then, i’ve sent out like 40 so far. Only about 10 have responded. I’ve done 3 interviews so far and have a few more scheduled.

Better later than never I guess though. Good luck

Re: Frat House

No you can’t move in first year. Money paid for the dorms will not transfer over.
