UCLA Bar - for those questions that take less than 5 posts to answer...

^
you know where you check your room, roommates, and move in time? it’s the last page :)

Ah, dang. They screwed up my move-in time. So it’s totally okay if I don’t have any parking permit when I move in, right?

I also received a parking permit for move-in day. Unfortunately, I would be arriving several hours before my assigned time. Would I still be allowed to park?

Also, would anyone happen to know if there is a place inside a residence hall triple room where I could lock my personal belongings?

yes don’t worry i don’t htink they check at all during move in days

sv is underneath sunset village’s courtside buildings… not sure about lot 7 but look along near hedrick area…

Welcome Week 09: [True Bruin Welcome Page](http://www.truebruinwelcome.ucla.edu/)

@laserbase if you shipped it to your correct dorm address, they should (and I seriously doubt it will get there before Saturday, much less Monday).

@confidentiality

This is essentially how it works: you can download most things under the radar, but once you start uploading thats a red flag. The school assumes you download professors notes and other school related media so as long as you do direct downloads like rapidshare there shouldnt be a problem. There is, however, no reason to upload anything and things like limewire (pft) which are peer to peer auto-upload or ‘seed’.

The youtube to mp3 converter is harmless if you have a software.

So you should still be able to torrent if you limit your upload speed to 0?

^ theoretically yes. I still wouldn’t for two reasons: torrenting typically involves files above 500mb (Im just throwing in a number) which may stand out if someone happens to be monitoring the network. The other reason is it’s against torrent etiquette to download a torrent and not upload it when you’re done.

personally, Im just going to wait until I go home on weekends to do my business. If I just HAVE to have something Rapidshare would be my best option since those things are always rar-ed or zipped anyway.

@gotlactose No, you still will be on the network of peers, although your effective upload bandwidth is 0. Don’t be stupid and torrent on UCLA’s network. I know from experience.

There are a lot of ways besides torrent… If you insist on using torrent, then you gotta protect yourself in some other ways…

So it’s alright to download from warez sites that give links to rapidshare files?

I have another question:
Where do you buy football game tickets? And what about basketball games?

Are there any guidelines that a professor must follow in giving out grades where the individual grades in the class are numerical? Does UCLA have some guidelines that say a 93% must be at least an A or something like that?

Ok thanks.

Does anyone know if is it too late to do alcohol edu? What happens if you never do it?

Is it true that Art & Arc 10 does not require a book? I read this somewhere (and I sure hope this is the case, I have enough books).

Thanks

yes, it does not require a book. readings will be on his website, which he will email you soon.

Sweet, thanks!
