UCLA Basketball '07/'08

Exactly what learnmestuff said, except I think the Stanford call was more controversial.

What a huge break for UCLA today; when they didn't call the foul against Ryan Andersen, I thought that Westbrook was going to save the ball to ship for a layup. (slightly analogous to Gonzaga inbounds!)

the call on Stanford might've been more controversial, but it was the correct call. Collison got stuffed, but he got hip-checked, too. then the ref got some flak for calling a foul that late in the game...

so i wonder if that carried over to this game, meaning the ref didn't call the foul against Andersen because it was so late in the game.

oh, and on top of that, Hill admitted the foul:

...But Hill didn't complain. "He drew contact when he went to the basket," Hill said. "It was still on him to make the free throws."

UCLA beats Stanford for Pac-10 title - Los Angeles Times

As others have said we need to stop getting behind at half time. Outside of Oregon State when is the last time we were in the lead at half? This will cost us a game in the tournament.

On the bright side are team has more than the talent to accomplish this, so lets just hope they do.

USC is coming up tomorrow for those of interested in the Pac X tournament.

obv

10char

And that's how Cal is supposed to be beaten.

I hate how I had class and a review session from 2-6pm; completely missed the Cal game =(

it's really not that great. blowout games are not that fun to watch.

^^Are you kidding? If watching Kevin Love hitting three consecutive three pointers is not fun to watch then I don't know what is.

We put on a clinic yesterday, and watching our team flow together firing on all cylinders is the most fun thing to watch ever. Yesterday's game was also critical for Josh, looks like he's finally back on the upturn which is crucial at this point in the year. Also, LoMa smacking away four, FOUR blocks was entertaining as well.

I don't know about you but I thoroughly enjoyed it..

A nice little quote from some bay area paper about the game:

"Somewhere along the way, the Bears learned their lesson about tugging on Superman's cape."

:D

there were definitely highlights. but that doesn't really do it for me. it's kinda like they were just bullied. it's not even fun.

Well, you're getting what you asked for. We're down to $C right now :|..

UCLA 57 USC 54

Beautiful.

I worried about Luc though...hope he gets well in time for the NCAA Tourney.

We don't win a national title w/o Luc. Hope he gets better by the Sweet 16...

X-rays came back negative. Good news I guess.

True, better than being positive, but he could still be out for the tournament. His brother was on tv tonight, said he was going to be out tomorrow v stanford but was optimistic that he could suit up in the first or second round.

megathunder: I did enjoy the game today. What I want is not for UCLA to be down. Both team played exceptional basketball tonight. It was way more exciting than the game yesterday (and the last two regular season games for that matter). Either way, point proven.

It was a good win for UCLA. But seriously, Cal is #9 in the Pac-10. It proves absolutely nothing. UCLA should be beating them, they're one of the top teams in the country.

And yet you saw what happened Saturday......

Anyway, my take on the Luc/NIT situation is there shouldn't be a problem. We busted our asses so we could get the 1 seed and with it some easy rounds early in the tourney where we shouldn't really need Luc. In fact, it will give Keefe some good minutes so in case anything comes up later on he'll be ready. And besides, when the **** hits the fan Luc will be ready to go and we'll get an added boost.

They'll all be like, the Bruins have been rolling thus far and haven't even been playing full strength! Wait 'til Luc comes back into the lineup!

Holllllaaaaaa!!!

or we end up getting screwed over since we don't have another consistent rebounder. Love can't do everything by himself -- remember Washington?

edit: you know what? we should all play our bench players tomorrow. us and Stanford pretty much have our seeding locked in, so might as well avoid any crippling injuries.
