Overall: I have taken 8.5 AP classes and 3 Honors classes

Rigor of Courses to what I had the option of taking: 8.5/10 to 9/10

My SAT: 2170 (650 for Critical Reading, 740 for Math, 780 for Writing)- not superscored because I increased in every section every time I took the SAT.

Also, I took a subject test in Biology (molecular): 690
I also took 5 other ones, but the scores are all terrible (all are 640) so I am not submitting those to any of the schools, except for Cornell due to their policy against Score Choice.

My essays were deemed pretty amazing, as I ran them all by two english teachers and both of my parents. My personal statement for the Common App was talking of a situation where I showed leadership and was able to take another step further into my recovery. It also showed how the situation was able to change me as a person into a more responsible adult. Other great essays were Cornell supplement, UNC supplement, and UC essays.

Extra-curriculars:

  • 4 years of Cross-Country JV
  • 2 years of Track and Field JV
  • 2 years as Secretary of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illnesses)
  • 1 year as Secretary of Green Club
  • 3 years of operation of a Poetry Blog

Awards:

  • Honor Role for all four years
  • Most Improved for Cross Country during my Sophomore Year
  • “Ole’ Reliable” for playing trombone in Band during my freshman year (1st chair)

Although my school doesn’t rank, I am almost certain that I am in the top 10% of my class
Also, my school is ranked 102 in California and 528 in the US

For most schools, I have two teacher (both English) letters of recommendation and 1 professor (at UCSD course I took in psychology). However, for Cornell, I had a family member write a letter of recommendation on top of all the previous ones listed (she graduated in 2004 summa cum laude and fourth in her class; also, she married into a family, assuming her husband’s last name, that possesses about 5 Cornell graduates).

If you give me an estimate on the schools I provided, I will help you back

UC Los Angeles - high match/low reach
UC Berkeley - high match/low reach
UC San Diego - match
UC Davis - match
UC Irvine - match
UC Santa Barbara - match
Cornell University - reach
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (SLO) - match

good chance for UNC Chapel Hill, match
lower chance for Berkeley, high match/low reach
accepted to all other uc’s and cal poly slo except maybe ucla which u still have good chance for
cornell is a reach due to sat?

Also, I’m a CA resident all

I would say all UCs besides Berkeley/LA are great chance, Berkeley/LA are likely. Would be surprised if you didn’t get into BU. Cornell is a reach for everyone but you definitely have a good chance because of legacy.

Lol your college list is similiar to mine and our stats are almost identical

UC Los Angeles - low reach
UC Berkeley - reach
UC San Diego - high match
UC Davis - match
UC Irvine - match
UC Santa Barbara - low match
Boston University - don’t know :frowning:
Cornell University - reach (cornell is a reach for everyone)
University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) - match
University of Wisconsin (Madison) - low match
Ohio State University (Columbus) - saftey
University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) DID EARLY ACTION - don’t know :frowning:
University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) >>>> already accepted - congratz
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (SLO) - low match
Reed College - probably saftey
University of Washington (Seattle) - low match

You have a solid chance at all of these schools and as long as your senior year grades are like your junior/sophmore/freshman year grades you should get in to most of these colleges.

Chance me back?

I think you’re gonna do great  Everyone is saying Berkeley/LA might be a reach, but I think if your essays were as great as you made them sound, it shouldn’t be too high of a reach  I go to University of MN and can we both just agree that no matter what you won’t go to UW madison? k thx.

@Molisha !00% agree! Such a shame I applied to Wisconsin the day before I got my acceptance to UMN at CBS! Hoping to get into the Honors college at UMN still tho. Do u know if the Honors College is extremely competitive for admission and do you think I have a decent shot?

@jackisawesome YASSSS lol #gophers4lyfe

hmmm honors in CBS is pretty competitive, actually very competitive. Good job getting admitted to CBS, its definitively the hardest one to get in to. If you don’t get honors as a freshmen you can apply for it after freshmen year and after sophomore year. What sucks about the umn app is there is no essay, but you took A LOT of AP courses- it’s really 50/50 shot from here, but you can always call admissions and see what you can do! They are really nice! If you have any other questions about UMN let me know!

UC Los Angeles - high match, good shot tho
UC Berkeley - low reach
UC San Diego - match
UC Davis - match
UC Irvine - match
UC Santa Barbara - match
Cornell University - higher reach, as it is for everyone
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo - lower match

@Molisha aren’t they the sweetest? They’ve called me three times and legitimately just talked with me! They were students, I believe, and were so kind that I felt welcomed

bump

They are so nice!

I can only comfortably chance you on the schools I know about so:
UC Los Angeles: high match
UC Berkeley: high match
UC San Diego: match
UC Davis: match
UC Irvine: match
UC Santa Barbara: match
Cornell University: reach
University of Michigan (Ann Arbor): match
University of Wisconsin (Madison): match
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (SLO): match (even safety)
University of Washington (Seattle): match

I think you have a good chance in getting into most of the matches, and probably one of the reaches or high matches. Berkeley and LA might want higher stats, and cornell is an Ivy, so reach for everyone. I’d suggest take Math 2 because most schools want that test

ah I took Math II, but lets just say, as a result of not prepping very hard, that I did poorly. I was honestly really upset when I found out…a 640 would be SCOFFED at. So, sadly, Cornell will see it as it is not a score choice school; however, for UCs, I am only submitting a 690 Ecological Biology SAT II. :frowning:

Additional info for Cornell: cousin went there, great aunt worked there, family has lived there for about 300 years, grandpa used to house the Cornell Hockey team. Sorry, random facts lol xD

What College did you apply to at Cornell? Each of the colleges run admissions independently. If you applied CALS or HumEc and your supplement was great, you’d have a better shot than if you applied CAS. Some colleges at Cornell focus more about fit and are willing to look past the (still spectacular but) below average CR/Math combo.

UNC, UCB and UCLA are the only high matches/reaches. You’re good anywhere else.
