i know there are a lot of questions. but help would be appreciated. even if you can answer 1 or 2 questions. plzz plzzz do. thanks!!!!!

1) how difficult is it to transfer from ucla to berkeley?
depends on what grades you can get.

2) how difficult is it to get in from CSE at ucla to EECE at berkeley? what else could i get into at berkeley?
isn’t this the same as #1? for the second part, maybe ME?

3) is it difficult for transfer students to be involved in student organizations and assume leadership positions?
if you’re asking whether transfer students are ostracized from student activities and not allowed to assume leadership positions, the answer is no.

4) when i go for interview, will i have to say i was a transfer student?
do you mean interview for a job? how would we know that?

5) how likely is a transfer to mit, princeton or stanford (PMS)?
HIGHLY unlikely. Princeton doesn’t take transfers, and MIT/Stanford have admit rates in the <5% area. don’t count on it.

6) are high school records required for transfer application. to berkeley and to PMS(lol)?
what the he11 is PMS? and no HS records will not be looked at, although you will need to have a solid 1.5 years of good grades before applying. they only take junior standing applications.

7) what would be the acceptance rate for ucla students wanting to go to berkeley? plzz provide an estimate if you cant provide exact figure.
about 30%?

8) any suggestions how i can boost my chance to get into PMS or berkeley on transfer. my high school grades are not very good.
Get good grades, try an internship, maybe some research. Write a good personal statement.

to hijynx99- we have relatives near berkeley + it’s supposed to be more prestigious than ucla for engg. + my cousin goes there and they would want us to go to the same place. (bcuzz i’m an international).

to uclabruins- i mean, for job interviews.

to grey_syntactics-

1) what kind of grades or gpa should i aim for to assure a transfer?

3) what i meant was… that since the people who came in as freshmen have alr been in those groups for 2 yrs… wouldn’t it be difficult for transfers to get those roles??? i am very concerned since i want to do an mba after college. and another thing- do transfers usually blend in and have a nice, big, friends-circle or do they just stay separately as a group of transfers???

4) as in… do people need to mention that when they go for job interviews? or can i just say i’m from berkeley?

7) thxxx. wud it be significantly lower for internationals? (im vietnamese)

3) “I want to get an MBA after college”
You worry about not being able to get involved with groups because you think it will help you get into a top tier MBA school?

If by “after” you mean right after you finish your undergrad, good luck getting into a top tier MBA school. Almost all admitted students have tons of work experience.

Those clubs and activities at UCLA won’t help much, if even at all. You are competing against people who have interns, excellent work experience, strong LORs, and high GMAT scores.

If you want to stay at UCLA, stay there. For undergrad, UCLA is basically = to Berkeley. Yes, Berkeley has slightly higher rankings, but for undergrad it doesn’t matter.

please stop throwing extra consonants around like they’re going out of style. :)

1) what kind of grades or gpa should i aim for to assure a transfer?
-the highest you can. often a 4.0 (straight As).

-usually not - people step down/up all the time. your circle of friends will consist of whoever you make friends with. chances are good that you’ll find some people you share a lot in common with - does it really make a difference whether they’re transfer students or not?

4) as in… do people need to mention that when they go for job interviews? or can i just say i’m from berkeley?
-you probably won’t be -saying- anything. you’ll be sending them a resume that says “berkeley alumnus.” to my knowledge, nothing on your degree indicates that you were a transfer student.

For undergraduate level, there is no much difference between UCLA and UCB. I don’t think it is worthy for you to put on so much energy and time for this. I LOVE UCLA. It is a great school. If you really like to go to UCB, MIT, or any other schools, you can still go when you apply for graduate school.

if you are a transfer to UCLA and you want to transfer again, you will be delaying your graduation significantly if you transfer to any place aside from Berkeley. The courses at UCLA will transfer directly and your lower division requirements will be satisfied.

If you got into MIT or Stanford (not Princeton as they dont take transfers) then you would lose a lot of your credit hours and spend more time there.

If you plan on getting an MBA why do you care where your engineering degree is from?
If you think CAL is much higher on the undergrad level than UCLA when it comes to grad school applications you are very wrong.
