UCLA, Berkeley, UCI! Help me out, I'm worried!

Hey, thanks for looking.

I'm a junior right now, full-blooded Armenian, at a semi-competitive school. I'm pretty worried about admissions.

My area of interest is in Bio-Medical Engineering, or possibly Pharmacology.

Rank: 40/718
UC GPA: 4.13
Total GPA: 4.37

SAT: 2100
AP Euro: 5
AP US: Pending
AP Bio: Pending
All SAT II's are pending

All of my science and history classes have been A's but english and math usually B's, which I've heard can be a hindrance...

I'm a jazz guitarist, I've played with the jazz band at school for 2 years, if that would be any kind of help to my admissions [if I wanted to join their music program on the side].

Again, thanks for taking a look and helping me out!

Narek Asadorian:

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach (Engineering)
UCI: Safety

I'd say.. If resident:
UCB/UCLA: Match
UCI: Safety

If NOT:
UCB/UCLA: Reach
UCI: Match/Safety

For BME you'd be crazy not to go to UCSD. I have friends who thought about turning down HYP for their program because of the great biotech companies in San Diego and the internships that SD students get. You have a good chance at the othyers, but SD rules for BME.

What are your other ECs?

"For BME you'd be crazy not to go to UCSD. I have friends who thought about turning down HYP for their program because of the great biotech companies in San Diego and the internships that SD students get."

That only usually happens if they get into the 8-year med program that UCSD has. That's incredibly selective (like 12 people get in a year) and many many people turn down Ivies for it. UCSD at a regular level? I think not. Those internships are hard to get, and classes are incredibly crowded. Many people go in with this mindset and so the classes are huge. It has all the problems of a regular UC...

UCLA: Slight reach
UCB: Reach (UCB's engineering is highly selective)
UCI: Safe match

This is if you're a resident. Your ECs are weak (making you a slight reach for UCLA), but for lowerer tier UCs, they don't need to be strong at all.

ucla/ucb : slight reach

and so on.

Sorry, you're wrong ebony. I visited at looked extensively at BME at SD. They are well funded by the biotech industry w3hich is a stronghold in San Diego. Getting into the major is hard, but once you're in you're taken care of. And the classes are certainly no bigger than at Cal or LA.

As far as other EC's:

MUN- 2 years
Track and Field- 1 year
Link Crew [Freshman orientation]- 2 years by next year
NHS, CSF Membership
VP of the Science and Engineering Club
Orchestra- 1 year
Jazz- will be 3 years by graduation

I'm also a candidate for NHS officer position as well...

I'll have to do a lot of digging in my head for real apps, but this is a rough sketch.

I think you'll get into the UCs. If you didn't I would be surprised.
