Hey everybody, just wanted to know how my setup looks going into senior year, and wanted to ask what my chances are:

Weighted GPA: ~4.4
Rank [out of 740]: ~40

SAT: 2100 [720 math, 710 writing, 670 reading]
SAT II Bio M: 700
SAT II Math II: 740
SAT II US Hist: ~710 [can't remember exact]

AP US: 5
AP Euro: 5
AP Biology: 4

Senior schedule:
AP Physics, AP Calculus AB, AP Economics, AP Literature

EC [years take into account senior year]:
1 year in Orchestra [headed 2nd section]
3 years Jazz Band [2nd place @ OC Fair, many competitions, started a jazz combo]
1 season JV Track and Field
VP of Science and Engineering club
CSF member 4 years, Sealbearer
NHS member 2 years

My EC list is weak as I haven't put much thought into it yet.

I'm Armenian by nationality, if that matters.
My interest is in the field of Biomedical Engineering which I have heard is very very competitive nowadays. I just want to see how I stand against admissions standards.

Thanks for your evaluation/advice!

To figure your "UC GPA" you have to only count sophomore and junior years and then cap your honors courses at 8 semester hours (4 year-long courses). Also throw out any courses in PE, health, or lab assistant/teaching assistants.

Refigure you GPA using this criteria--see my example in the thread below entitled "Berkeley.. A reach?" started by megan15 to see how to do this. Then repost your UC GPA and we'll estimate your chances.

Looks pretty good. I think you have a good shot at all the UCs

Narek Asadorian:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach (Engineering)
UCSD: Match (Engineering)
UCI: Safety

Once again, I agree with Flopsy... your ECs are good, though not standout... UCB and UCLA are becoming increasingly competitive, and nobody should think they are slam dunk for those schools. In your case, it's a coin flip b/c your GPA looks good but your SAT scores are iffy for those schools.

Calcruzer:

Last I checked my UC GPA was 4.0 on my transcript. I have a feeling it didn't change much because the UC GPA on my last report card was 0.0.

Thanks!
