UCLA Biz-Econ Chance

Overall GPA: 3.70
Major GPA: 3.9
Major: Biz-Econ
Pre-requisites: All done by fall except 3 (2 not articulated by my college but will look for them at different colleges)
IGETC: Finish by end of Fall
TAP: Yes
ECs: Board member on a club, PTK, MAT, ASG, Honors Program, Community Service Award, English tutor at my college
Personal Statement: Have yet write, but I am a strong writer and have an English professor who is going to review it.
Extra notes: Currently taking 18 units, took 12 over summer, took 20 over spring. Hopefully they see that I can handle a crazy workload. Worked 25 hours a week for a semester.

I know this is pretty borderline with TAP, so just give me your honest opinion.

Also, what is a good back-up major? Since I have TAP and can pick 2. I know econ is bad and any other suggestions besides math/econ?

Some people on this forum have gotten in under your major with a 3.7 and TAP on their side, so it can be done.

Your ECs are good and having an English professor help you with your personal statement is going to help a lot. I don’t know if UCLA will take into consideration your workload and ability to juggle that with schoolwork. Hopefully, they will, and they should. I would say that you have a real shot at their business economics program.

A good back up major would be math or applied math, if you’re into that. Also, consider financial actuarial mathematics. Those are the only suggestions that I could think of.

you have good chance (70% +), If you are going to do Math/Econ as you backup make you have more than Cal 1 & 2 completed for math courses
