UCLA BIZECON or UCB Haas?

I would of never imagined to get accepted into both schools. What would be a better decision in your opinion? I love the LA area and it's probably easier to land an internship L.A area, than at Berkeley.

They are both giving me at same amount of financial aid also.

Note: I'm a transfer student.

Thanks for all your responses!

In my own opinion, I say go to UCLA. But first off ask yourself this, how much does location matter to you, how well can you handle in a competitive environment, and are you a left winged liberal? If location does not matter and you love competition, and by chance you are a left-winged nut, then UCB is your best fit. UCLA would be best fit if you preference the LA area and a slightly less competitive environment in comparison to UCB. Also UCLA is moderately liberal.

go to haas hands down if you want to study business.

ucla has no business major and bizecon is more like finance+accounting. very different.

@Eviity: It all depends on what you want to do, what field you want to go into. I transferred to UCLA and from a strategic standpoint, UCLA has a lot of internships and connections with big names in the industry. In fact, there is a job fair on campus today with representatives/recruiters from large companies attending. My brother also attends UCLA and he is actually a business econ major. From what he has told me though is that UCLA’s biz econ is more management(hence Anderson school of management I guess). He says that Berkeley’s program is more of a business program.

I’m not sure if this is the case with all the UC’s but Berkeley and UCLA have summer opportunities to study at other campuses. I’m actually planning on attending a summer business program at Haas next summer. So whether you decide on UCLA or Berkeley, you may still have opportunities to study at UCLA or Berkeley for the summer. Good luck on your decision!

Thanks for all of your inputs. I will definitely put those thoughts into consideration. @hakuex I got in UCLA has a Pre-BIZECON major, and I also heard that many of the courses are Econ (mainly theoretical) vs. Haas’ straight business program; I think competition wise, I don’t believe it would be much different …

@iDizzle

Thanks for the advice, would I lack any opportunities if I picked one school over the other? I want to go into consulting/ finance.

@ Eviity: In terms of opportunities I can’t say much for Berkeley since I don’t go there. However, UCLA offers internships with big names in finance such as Morgan Stanley. UCLA being in LA just offers many opportunities with big names in all industries such as NBC, Universal, Warner Bros, Nickolodeon, A&E, Disney, Apple, Intel, Microsoft, Texas Instruments and FOX, just to name a few. My brother is actually trying to get into investment banking. My brother also lives with two Anderson grad students, one of which is currently doing financial consulting.
