VP of stock and investing club
Prereqs: Will be finished in Spring (all done but Calc2 and Managerial Acct…Will take Acct2 in Honors)
Igetc : Will be done

Work experience: have 2 years experience managing a small business, and doing accounting work for the business, as well as some experience in retail, etc

Also have volunteer experience at a local boy’s and girl’s club

3.8 GPA (no TAP)
EC: Internship at NASA as administrative assistant to the Chief Scientist for Exploration Technology. Few clubs here and there.
Prereqs and IGETC will be done by Spring.

UCLA Biz Econ would be amazing if I would get in. First choice for sure. Not so sure if I will be able to get in though.

@Mitch: Because many applicants arent even eligible for admission because of prereqs and things like that.Or people wait till the last minute to complete requirements etc. People with higher GPA’s are obviously very serious and would make sure to complete requirements. Im sure they admit plenty of 3.8’s with strong progress toward meeting the requirements just make sure ur app and essays are strong.

An example is Hass, they admit 8% but most arent even eligible and those who are have a 25% shot

Yeah. It’s more obvious on the Haas website since they tell you what percentage of applicants were eligible. UCLA just tells you the Admit Rate/ GPA etc. Good point. I definitely agree.

How is the avg admit gpa misleading? It simply states the average gpa of those who were admitted, meaning that, this average gpa was out of all the eligible students.

I get your point about the average admit % being misleading because not all applicants are eligible, i agree with that. Personally i think you better have a 3.9+ to have a realistic shot at ucla. Do TAP, gl

Yeah well TAP definitely boosts your chances a great deal. I’d say you need a 3.7+ with TAP and like you said a 3.9+ without assuming prerequisites are satisfied and your application is good. But plain and simple, they want the BEST students.

I’ve also done some paid accounting tutoring.

I seriously get so stressed when thinking about the admission decisions that we’ll all receive in about 4-5 months. Really hoping that 3.82 will get me over the edge and in.

I know of someone who got accepted this year with a 3.6 with TAP, but someone got rejected with a 3.8 without TAP.

@Billionaire, where do you get your info with the GPAs, etc?

General observations, discussions with various people, general knowledge of statistics. I do alot of reading as well. I personally am acquainted couple of admissions people from Berkeley and they have the same opinion with UC admission. The value of TAP cannot be understated thats for sure tho …and seriously, for all us Econ transfers… MAKE SURE YOU ACE CALCULUS. Thats HUGE believe me… if u suck at math, admissions will know better than to admit you. Not only for getting in but for succeeding when you get in, and if at all possible, take Calc 3. Being comfortable with math will make you one happy Econ student.

I got my B in Calc1, 88%, that was a bad day…

But yeah, I just landed an internship yesterday with a small financial firm, so hopefully that will also get me over the edge. What you think Bill?

I got my B in Calc last Spring, and will have an all A trend since then.

-3.83 with TAP
-Will have all prereqs done by the time I need to
-Igetc will be done
-All my clubs (phi theta kappa honors society, business leaders, accounting society, stock and investing club)
-Paid accounting tutoring
-Experience managing a small business
-Volunteer experience
-and now a financial internship

I’ll be taking Calc2 in the Spring, but this fall I’m currently taking 5 classes, 3 of which are honors so I’m hoping that my course load will still be impressive along with all my ECs. I’ll have my 4.0 this semester bringing my cumulative to 3.83.

Taken from 1st post:
Prereqs: Will be finished in Spring (all done but Calc2 and Managerial Acct…Will be taking Acct2 in Honors)

C’mon man… you couldve searched that. Being TAP certified means that you completed the honors program at your school and gives you priority at UCLA

You seem smart enough to know that searching “TAP” in google will come up with many other results before the Transfer program.
