Hey guys! Just wanted to start a thread for this. To be honest I’m a bit upset that I didn’t get in cause UCLA was my dream school; however, I’m stoked for the opportunity to be on the wait list. Hopefully we can support and help each other on this thread
Also, I was just wondering if any of you know how many offers UCLA extend for a position on their wait list?
i was also wait listed !
I was waitlisted as well, international, my intended major is physics!
Waitlisted for Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics, their Pre-Med track major. How easy is it to get off the waitlist? From the little tidbits of stats I’ve seen around the internet it just seems extremely hard to get off the waitlist and I’m worried because LA was my top choice but my gut feeling tells me it’s not possible anymore.
ugh I really wanted to go to UCLA I’m not really surprised when you say that though, cause UCLA is so many people’s dream school and I bet a lot of them will be submitting their SIRs this weekend
I think I read somewhere that UCLA only offered 5000 people a spot on their wait list last year, I don’t know if this holds true for this year as well, but I think we should also be proud that we got offered a place on the wait list instead of being flat out rejected
I want to be happy that I was waitlisted but I’m finding it so hard to stay optimistic… and this is coming from a super optimistic person…
Not sure about UCLA, but I read that Berkeley had about a 30% wait list acceptance rate a few years back. Keep those hopes up!
I was told that LA accepts around 3x their projected incoming class and that getting on the waitlist is essentially getting rejected. The fact that they do that kinda screws us, the people on the waitlist, over. So I’m planning to take this L. Sorry for being so pessimistic but the truth hit me too and it hurt
Just waitlisted lol, but given my low UC GPA, I was surprised I wasn’t axed immediately. Is there anything specific we should write in the waitlist info box? Like a mini statement? Or did you guys just provide grades
I just did grades
ugh, now im really starting to lose hope I didn’t know that UCLA offered so many people a spot on their waitlist…
do any of you have any ideas as to how they will be ranking us to determine who gets admitted first, space permitting?
Waitlist stats for 2016: Missing in action
Waitlist stats for 2015:
Just < 6,000 offers 3,400 opt-ins
500 admits
360 SIRs
Waitlist stats for 2014:
3,700 offers
2,100 opt-ins
150 admits
(120 CA; 30 OOS)
I think I am going to add a mini statement about why I would like to attend. Do you think that will harm my chances ?
Do you guys know whether the waitlist opt-in is binding or not?
I don’t know if including a mini statement is wise
Also I read through the FAQ and the site and didnt see anything about it being binding
@jcolestan why do you not think it is?
my brother got waitlisted from UCB and got in, he couldnt add a mini statement. His girlfriend got in off the waitlist to UCLA and she said she felt like she got in from that little blurb she wrote. Just want to got everyones opinion about if I should write something else other than grades
