This is just a theory and I can be completely wrong, but perhaps the reason why UCLA isn’t accepting as many IS is because they already have many IS students who have SIRed in regular admission. The UC’s state that they do not rank their waitlists and admit by other factors (ie. if they’re lacking students in one major, they’ll admit students from the waitlist in that major). So perhaps they have a good proportion of IS students already from the regular round, while many OOS declined in the regular round, hence why so many OOS students are receiving offers now.
Nonetheless, stay positive. I know that UCLA is the dream school for many of you, but just know that even if you ultimately do not get into UCLA, you’ll have amazing experiences at whatever college that you have already committed to. Besides, there will be many opportunities in the future to go to UCLA too, such as by transfer, or grad school. Good luck
@giriboy not a lot of people on last years thread got off in general. It seems like this year a lot more people are getting off the waitlist(albeit its only OOS. and internationals so far). I’m hoping for a wave tomorrow since today is the deadline for that first wave to respond. Good luck everyone!
I also haven’t heard any in state students getting accepted (normally my school has one person getting off the waitlist, so I haven’t seen that yet). I wish everyone a good luck for tomorrow and the best of luck at your future college
Q: IF I AM NOT ADMITTED UNDER MY FIRST CHOICE MAJOR, WILL UCLA REVIEW ME FOR MY ALTERNATE MAJOR?
A: Within the College of Letters and Science, the major an applicant chooses is not a factor in the review process at the freshman level. UCLA does not normally consider the alternate choices of applicants who applied to majors in the other schools (Engineering, Arts, etc.).
@bruinislife If you applied for L&S, technically everyone is admitted into the college first and then after taking courses, you declare your major. So, I guess it would be kind of pointless for admissions to consider you for both of your choices when you have not even truly declared a major yet…
In these waves, do they tell us if we are rejected, or if we don’t hear anything, it means we’re are rejected? Or do all the rejections come after all the waves?
