This is for students admitted to both CAL and UCLA. Sorry :(

How are you guys feeling? Where you guys leaning towards?

For me, I am a 50/50 right now. The academic factor at CAL is starting to appeal to me more. But i love the social aspect at UCLA. So we'll see... I'm going to wait till the last week of May to make my decision.

I have to wait to see financial aid. I was deferred for Spring, which makes the decision harder, because I could technically use it as an opportunity to work full time from the summer until my time to attend Cal(after I have payed some of my current bills off and save for housing expenses). But now I don’t know what to do.
If I would have gotten in for Fall at Berkeley I probably would have attended UCLA just because of the extra money in my pocket(from not having to pay for rent, I live in LA)

i have no idea, im glad we have until june to make the decision. i wish cal was in socal, it’d make this so easy for me. they’re both beautiful campuses. i’d choose cal academics over la anyday…but the la environment is more me. i really don’t know. yesterday i was dead set going to ucla but now that i know i got into cal…it turns everything upside down. although, i’m leaning towards cal, it’s much more prestigious than ucla, and half of ur education is paying for a name =

I got into both and I was intending to go to UCLA no matter what, but at the thought of getting into my HS dream school, I’m really torn. My family (I have kids) would be willing to relocate, cause right now we are close to UCLA, but it seems like too much trouble. Plus, I’ve already sent in my SIR and bought my UCLA sweatshirt. I know that you can take back the SIR, so that you can send one into CAL (I would just claim that I lost my mind), but then I would never be able to go back to UCLA if everything didn’t work out.

This sucks on the one hand, but then again, I plan to shoot for my PH.D., so I could always I apply for grad school at Cal. I wish this were easier. I wish I didn’t have family living in San Fran willing to take me in. This is a really hard decision, more so, if my eFAN doesn’t turn out well cause I won’t be getting a Cal Grant at UCLA even though they already factored that in and my FA from Cal is comparable.

eshug, you got me at the right time… right when im about to log off with my new pw that I totally forgot. something around the lines of adfsdbfiwuehifwsfdskfnsewbf lol

Can anyone, please, give me any links for statistics/facts or just share own experience? My email is Maria.Milova@yahoo.com

Transfer program: TAP (UCLA Transfer Alliance Program)

I’m still in complete shock. I can’t believe this is happening to me.

I am leaning toward Cal for a few reasons:
Better financial aid package
I applied to a less impacted major (History) at UCLA for fear of not getting into my top choice (Comm Studies). That was a HUGE mistake. I like History, but the two classes I am in this semester have made me really question my desire to study it. Plus, let’s face it, there isn’t much you can do with a History degree. I’m a Media Studies major at Cal.
I’ve lived in LA my whole life and need a serious change.

I am going to send in my SIR at the last minute. I need time to think about this.

Stats:
GPA: 3.83
EC: Work part-time in the transfer center at my CCC
Essay: Excellent
Pre-reqs: All done, except one at Cal that isn’t offered at my school.

I’m definitely going to Berkeley. UCLA is a great school, the academic difference is very negligible for under grad, but I just feel the Bay Area would be the most comfortable setting for me because I already did the whole ‘away from home’ thing.

I know Berkeley is kind of a dumpy city, but S.F. is just across the bridge. UCLA probably has the better social scene, but it’s not like Berkeley is in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do.
