UCLA Cal Grant Question

If I didnt qualify for a Cal grant this year because my income was over the limit, can I qualify for one next year if my income goes down?

Yes you should as long as you haven’t passed the units limit.

If your at UCLA and your family income was below $80k for 2011, then you should still get the B&G promise. So, the school would give UC grants to make up for the loss of Cal Grants.

Was your family’s income below $80k?

What is your EFC?

Have you gotten you FA pkg? what’s in it?

In 2011, my income was $81K, but some of that income stopped this year. So next year when I do fafsa it should be well under 80k. Will I still qualify for Cal Grant?

Cal grant numbers are different than Blue and Gold.

Cal Grants have different income thresholds based on family size.

What was in the FA pkg?

I got a university grant/scholarship for 9.6K, and that was it

???

You should have also gotten student loans. Are you a soph or junior?

if you didn’t get student loans, call and ask for some.

Do you work during the school year and summer?

Missing out on Blue and Gold or Cal Grant was a loss of about $4-6k for you. You wouldn’t have gotten the $10k UC grant and also Cal Grant/Blue & Gold.

how will you pay the difference?

if you don’t have the means to pay, then you might ask to take a year off so that next year’s aid will be higher.
