Hi everyone I’m new here so here goes nothing
Intended MAJOR: applied math with computation(college of Letters and Science and not engineering)
Uc GPA: 4.04
Sat 1: 1430, 21/24 essay
Sat math 2: 780
Sat history: 700
I might take one more sat subject, maybe physics
Ec:
Freshman Year: Off-Season sport
Sophomore Year: Chess Club Member, Varsity Sport, Computer science academy Experience
Junior Year: Key club Class Director, FBLA Member, Math club Member, Community Service at Public Library, Volunteered at Hwarang Club, 2017 FBLA State Convention: Management Info Systems, Community Service Awards, Google Summer Internship, Leader position of the Tech-Group of Interns at Google, Googls Recognition Awards
Senior Year: Math club Fundraising Manager, Key club Secretary, FBLA Member, 2018 FBLA Regional/State Convention (hopefully I do well and go to state again)
Course rigor: 8 Aps and 1 IB by the end of senior year(without honors)
Essay:
Leadership, favorite subject, significant challenge, greatest skill
Strengths: Very confident in my EC and essays. Fyi in my essays 3/4 questions all do with my love for computer science in different ways(huge programming task and accomplishment, leadership, pursuing it personally over criticism in the past) hopefully ucla can look past my bad gpa and see how much I really want to go to this school
Weaknesses: def my uc GPA. I have a huge upward trend between freshman to senior year.
I feel my sat isn’t the weakest but definitely not the strongest. From the average(1370-1390) I feel I have a decent change for college of Letters and Science??
Of course I’m going to be applying to other ucs, privates, and cal states. But ucla is my dream and with this applied math I can set my path on for grad school.
And oh if it matters, I have 3 letters on req. one from my physics teacher( very good, unique), one from my google mentor( again very unique, emphasis on leadership and programming) and one from my English teacher( had him for two years, had a very good relationship)
Thank you everyone!
