UCLA chance :)

3.57 UC GPA
Major: Psychology (yes, yes I know it's impacted lol)
150 volunteer hours over past 3 months at an assisted living center for the elderly (130) and tutoring kids (20).
Excellent upward trend: 1.0 -> 3.3 -> 3.3 -> 3.7 - > 4.0 (11 A's, 4 B's, 1 D first semester << retaking spring 2010....if that helps at all)

3.65 overall GPA
Solid essays - express interest in double majoring in psych and phil << applying to UCB philosophy.
5 Psych classes taken with aggregate 3.8 GPA
4/5 major pre-reqs completed by end of fall, 5/5 done by end of spring. 4.0 in all prereq courses.

Do I have a decent shot or am I a major long shot? Thanks any and all.

Slim to none… unless your SAT’s are at least 2300, you’ve basically got no shot.

I’m a CC transfer student lol. I’m not straight out of high school. I’m applying with full Junior status for Fall 2010. In other words, SAT’s are irrelevant. Sorry for not being more clear with my stats.

anything above a 3.5 is a good chance. that major is not that competitive unlike engineering…in other words ■■■■

Actually Psych is impacted. The average GPA for admitted students was 3.7 :/. But I’m hoping that with a 3.57 I’m close enough to have a good shot with my EC work. && yeah engineering is cutthroat man, I could never do that lol.

in that case you should have studied harder. go to a CSU

I don’t understand why the responses of most people are so harsh when people post these topics. First of all, you should be confident enough in your own abilities and accomplishments so that you don’t have to post a topic on this forum asking if you have a chance at UCLA. Secondly, it is so hard to truthfully know whether or not you have a shot because frankly we are not in charge of that decision and have little to no idea of exactly what they are looking for in an application.

I say be confident and hope for the best. Pretty much anything can happen. Best of luck to you.

^ agreed.

They published the [Profile of Admitted Transfer Students](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof.htm) for a reason.

A lot of jerks on this thread… sheesh! But you should post on the transfer UC thread these people have no idea what you’re asking. Obviously…

welcome to CC

^ HAHA right…
