I am currently a junior in high school and had a 95.5 WEIGHTED GPA (school doesnt do the 4.0 system) by the end of sophomore year but i’m not sure if thats sufficient to get into a competitive, largely academically based college like UCLA. I’ve never taken a nonhonors class in my academic career and by the end of this year, i will have completed 5 APs but I get nervous because I hear of people completing like 14 APs by the end of their senior year. By how much should i raise my gpa this year to put me in a safe and stable position when the time comes for my application to be reviewed when i am a senior? I also dont exactly have the best EC’s…so far, i have taken two SAT II’s: Bio -> 730. Chem->740. are these considered good scores or should i retake? I plan to take us history and the math 2 subject tests as well. So far, how am i doing? do i have a chance next year? Im only a junior but i am still very nervous about how my application will look next year. What more can I do??
I do not think you are behind. Keep up the good work! Number of your APs are fine so far. Try to take 4 or 5 more in senior year and you will be fine.
(And yes …If you could raise your subject tests to 750+ you will be in a safer position, but you are not far off!)
