UCLA Chem/Materials vs Materials E

Which is better to do and what is the difference between the two majors at UCLA?

Here is the 4 year plans/curriculum for both majors so compare the curriculum. You keep asking the same questions over and over and no one can tell you which major is better for you. This is an individual preference so go with your gut and select one based on your interests.
UCLA has a Chemistry and Materials Science major under the College of Letters and Sciences and the Materials and Engineering major under the College of Engineering.

ok but is materials less selective than chemical when it comes to chemical?

I cannot find any specific acceptance data by major for UCLA Freshman, however, for 2016 the College of Engineering had 23,011 applicants and accepted 2846 for a 12% acceptance rate. Low odds overall for either major.

@Gumbymom
Here are the admit statistics for these two particular majors. Feel free to ask for the other ones too.

Chem E:
Applicants: 1,332
Admits: 227
Admit Rate: 17%
Enrolled: 93

Mat Sci:
Appplicants: 407
Admits: 124
Admit Rate: 30.5%
Enrolled: 40

@10s4life: Thanks for the information and answering OP’s question.

thank you,
@10s4life is that inf for Chem/Matsci or MSE?

also anyone have admit stats for Berkely for these majors?

@SREE33 the former is straight up chemical engineering. The latter is material science and engineering. Any specialization within the major requires no admission and you declare it after you finish lower divs. Note UCLA admits by major for engineering.

anyone have stats for Berkley?
