How do check financial aid?

@norcalmerit - I got Regents + honors program at UCSC too!

DS got Rejected
2220 SAT
4.15 uc gpa
Eagle Scout; varsity soccer and water polo; ASB
Kind of expected it.i It’s ok, not sure it would have been a good fit anyway.
This will make decision a little easier…
congrats and all the best to all of you. I am sure everybody here on cc will go to college and be happy where they land.

Accepted students, does creating a UCLA logon ID accept the offer of admission?

@aks2014 - creating a logon and accepting your offer are two different things. I already had a logon from having taken a summer session course two years ago, but I changed my password tonight, and it didn’t make me accept my offer. I really think you’re ok.

@wfred14 so nothing to worry about? have you created yours?

Accepted!!!

Why you think you were accepted/wait listed/denied:
Besides the lack of real ECs and sports, I have no damn clue, since my SAT/Grades were way above their 75th, and supposedly they don’t have affirmative action. I really wished they would tell me why I got declined, because the decision seamed unreasonable. ■■■■■ what a joke.

@aks2014 - I edited my first reply for you, but no, I don’t think you have anything to worry about by creating your logon. It’s the only way to view financial aid, etc.

Waitlisted!
Major: Political Science
UW GPA: 3.86
W GPA: 4.31
SAT: 2130
SAT II’s: Bio: 740 Calc II: 700
Ap’s: Calc-5 Bio-4
EC’s: A lot I guess, current state position in debate and civic ed organization where I worked to start a program for students to meet with reps and senators, only girl on all boys hockey team, ASB and class student gov positions, and microfinance club president. Used to have a job in a candy shop and internship with a state senator over the summer.
Essays: I thought they were good personally. Counselor, who used to read admissions essays for UC Berkeley, said it was one of the best he read this year. Wrote about speech/debate and spoken word in the first essay and being a girl on an all boys full contact ice hockey team for the world I come from essay.
Disappointed and I guess a little confused for sure, but determined to get off that waitlist! Let me know if you have any tips.
Congrats to all who were accepted! (:

I received a Supplemental Questionnaire
SAT: 1820 (SAT II US History 640, Lit 580)
ACT: 24
GPA: UW 3.6 W 3.9
7 APs, I am currently taking 5 of the 7. I also took honor courses while my school was still on that system. Last year I got a 3 in APUSH and English Lang.
Good amount of ECs (nothing sports related; besides selling tickets LOL), community service, work with my congresswoman and leadership (On the board of 3 of my clubs, and did student council and ASB etc.)
Strong personal and supplemental essays and good grades in my first semester.
I was rejected from UCSD and waitlisted by UCD. So don’t give up, continue to show passion and commitment! Put your heart into every process of applying so you can stand tall no matter what! No one can make you feel bad for doing your best.

My essays got me in and I’m grateful I got the chance to fill out the supplemental questionnaire.

Keep those heads up, friends :)

Ethnicity: Indian
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: $300,000+
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Full paying international, possibly?
Strengths: Essay, class rank, EC’s
Weaknesses: Grades were mighty hard to understand, SAT could’ve been better (it’s a 2240 superscored though)
Why you think you were accepted/wait listed/denied: Haven’t the faintest clue why they’d take a dork like me, but hell I’m happy
Other Factors: The Indian applicant pool is both massive, and extremely competitive.

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Sorry about the protracted discussion on the Indian caste system, guys. I was trying to divert my mind and got carried away (it was 4 am, cut me some slack please ). Still, this was unexpected-and excellent-news so I’m suitably pumped. Also got into Claremont McKenna and wait listed at UVa. Congratulations to those who got in, good luck to those wait listed. For those who were denied, fear not!

Stanfordmania no apology necessary. It was informative and relevant to how schools in other countries accept candidates. Congratulations!

Strong EC’s including many years and accomplishments in competitive sports, several elected leadership positions in student council, part-time job at Nordstrom, lots of charity work, clubs, etc.
White female
OOS
I think her essays and EC’s put her over the hump so to speak. I see many students with higher SAT’s that were rejected or waitlisted and I feel for them. All I can think of is she is pretty well rounded and that may have been the key. We are also OOS so we will be paying beaucoup bucks and her major isn’t computer science or engineering! She is psyched to say the least.
