Reflection **[ul]
[] Strengths: ECs, SAT is okay, AMAZING PERSONAL STATEMENTS
[
] Weaknesses: GPA!!! The only ones from my school to get in were people with like no ECs and high GPAs. I mean, you can tell that there are obviously some people without perfect GPAs who get in, but the odds are just significantly lower for those people usually.
[] Schools were you accepted/waitlisted to? Accepted: UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside (Highlander Scholar), Santa Clara University, Gonzaga University (18k scholarship), Fordham (15k scholarship), Seton Hall (27k scholarship), Saint Mary’s College (25k scholarship)

[li] Schools you are waiting for? Claremont McKenna College, Scripps College, Yale, Stanford, Brown, Cornell ILR, UC Berkeley[/li][/ul]General Comments: Received the alumni scholarship invite but I was waitlisted! The email said that I was a top applicant too…so confused. I thought it was the equivalent of a likely letter. GPA IS SO IMPORTANT. DON’T WORRY ABOUT ECs TOO MUCH GUYS.

I think my heart will crumble if I don’t get UC Berkeley, but now it is looking inevitable.

[
] Schools you were rejected from? None yet
[li] Schools you are waiting for? H, Y, Brown, Georgetown, Duke, UCB, UVA[/li][/ul]General Comments: Don’t procrastinate and congrats to all who got in! Judging by how bad my personal statements were, my advice would be to focus on the numbers the most, but writing a couple of great PS’s couldn’t hurt

I GOT ACCEPTED WITH AN 1840 SAT SCORE AND A 3.9 GPA. I DIDN’T TAKE MATH MY SENIOR YEAR BUT I HAVE 3 AP CLASSES THIS SEMESTER. Honestly I was NOT expecting to get in AT ALL, but I believe what helped me by far was my essays! I discussed how basically my whole life I grew up travelling the world and living abroad. I talked about how living in many countries/continents shaped the person I have become today and that I am open minded because of my experiences with different cultures and traditions. In my second essay I talked about my trip to Tanzania and the community service work I did at a school and an orphanage and I think that is what really got me into UCLA!
The schools I am waiting to hear back from are UCSB, NYU, and University of Washington. NYU is my top choice.

Keep the faith! I got an F in Stats senior year AND didn’t have all my requirements and still got accepted. Congrats if you got in! And if you didn’t, I hope you end up at a school where you are happy. I hope this is helpful to future applicants! God knows I read a ton of these, haha.
