General comments: DONT EVER THINK THAT YOU WONT GET IN! It really is a holistic process. I was 100% certain I would be rejected because of my low test scores… but hey! I got in. This process is as unpredictable as anything could ever be. EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON COLLEGE CONFIDENTIAL TOLD ME I WOULD GET REJECTED. hehe !!! don’t listen to the people on here, they don’t know everything.

General Comments
I’m pretty disappointed with the waitlist decision, but I’m just glad it’s not a rejection. I know so many qualified and hardworking people that were rejected or waitlisted, so I’m pretty confused at how random and arbitrary some of these decisions are.

Anyway, I wish the best of luck to those of us that have been rejected/waitlisted, and a big congratulations to everyone that got in!

General Comments:
For those looking at this for next year…

GPA is #1 and the most important factor for predicting admittance…those with 4.0 unweighted GPA had a ~70% chance of being accepted as shown in previous years. See: https://www.admission.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_fr/Frosh_Prof.htm

Also…it pays to do your homework… See the “UCLA Freshman Selection Overview” document that came out in Oct 2015 before applications due date. This document is essential to understanding to process and what holistic reviewers are looking for: http://www.admission.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_fr/frsel.pdf

[/ul]General Comments/Additional Information:[list]
If your GPA and Test Scores are in the general ballpark, it’ll ultimately be your essays and activities that make or break you. Do something unique and extraordinary. You don’t necessarily have to win a national prize, but if you do things in high school that demonstrate your passions, and write about those in your essays, you’ll be fine.
Combining the grants and scholarships I received from the school, ended up getting a full ride. The only drawbacks are the distance from my home and the intense competition if you’re a premed! Still deciding for now, but it’d be nice to go here.
