@potato16 Hopefully not, I already have a countdown for March 17… 21 more days!!
I’d be super surprised if it didn’t come out the 18th. Berkeley is traditinallly 1 week later with UCSB in the middle. With bruin day being so close as well it should be soon. Current students have already been asked to apply to open their dorms up for the overnight stay experience for select admitted students. And last year had over 100,000 total applications so it shouldn’t make a difference. Almost all decisions have been made anyways. Now it’s all logistical stuff.
would it hurt my chances of getting admitted to UCLA if I don’t apply to the alumni scholarship, even though I was invited to apply to one? (because I’m just seeing the email from the scholarship committee now even though i got it earlier, and it requires a rec so it’s just going to take too long)
^^ UCLA admissions office won’t be offended if I don’t apply to it right? or they won’t see it as “not demonstrating interest”?
@allima UCs don’t consider demonstrates interest. They also have no clue what happens after they reccomend who should apply for the scholarship.
@10s4life thank you!
Did anyone receive an additional email from the alumni scholarship assoc. today?
@austingal Yes I got a little reminder email today
@SCGoalie00 Ah, ok. Was hoping I was special. Lol.
@SCGoalie00 @austingal is it a reminder for you to turn in the application, or have you already turned it in?
@Jp6250 It’s a reminder to turn it in.
I already turned mine in and I didn’t get the email
Date Confirmed: Decisions will be released March 24th.
@“Wilt Chamberlain” Where did you read that
Now that admission decisions are coming out, here are upcoming overnight events that you’ll want to atttend!
- For eventual Regents Scholars: Be sure to participate in the Regents Overnight Stay Program. There are 4 sessions and it’s highly recommended. You’ll get an early taste of life at UCLA by staying in a dorm with current students.
- Bruin Overnight Experience: this is for all out of staters. The day before bruin day you stay with current students in their dorms and get an early taste of life at UCLA plus you'll be right on campus when bruin day starts. I've had friends that did it and they loved it.
- Special interest Overnight stay: similar to bruin Overnight experience but for speciffic ethnicies. Not sure how it's run or what it's like but if you are offered a spot I would do it.
@“Wilt Chamberlain” where was it confirmed?
if you got the alumni email scholarship, it means the admissions committee thought your application (gpa and test scores) was promising
Doesn’t alumni scholarship email only mean that you’re in the top percentile for GPA and scores? Like it needs to be backed up by good extracurriculars and essays - it’s like how colleges reject people with perfect GPAs and SATs all the time, so in the end it’s not really indicative of admission.
^yes exactly, so i read 70-80% of people who got the email are admitted, and apparently the instances where they don’t is due to the fact that they don’t have extracurriculars.
If I don’t fill out and apply for the scholarship, but got the email, are those my chances?^^^^ @allima
