@emli8100 I’ve seen that happen a lot in the past! I believe it’s rare to get accepted to both, so if you do, that’s amazing!!
Thanks @scarletwitchx. I’m on edge since I was not directly admitted to UW or UCSD, which makes it way too risky to go there for CS.
what’s the difference between linguistics and computer science in L&S and computer science in the college of engineering?
@toostressed1 linguistics and compsci in L&S is a combined major where you study both linguistics and computer science… while for compsci in the college of engineering you just study compsci…
iirc there’s some overlap in the compsci part of lingusitics and compsci, but they’re two pretty different majors.
How likely is one accepted if they received an alumni scholarship invite? I heard somewhere around 70~80%.
@apark004 my guess is closer to 90-100%. Think about it, guys. Why would they ask you to try and get a scholarship there if you didn’t get in. That makes no sense.
@apark004 Idk the exactly how likely it is, but it seems pretty high. However, It’s just a correlation–not causation. Your chances of getting an alumni scholarship invite are based on how high your stats are. For the most part, the higher your stats, the higher chance you have of getting in. Idk if that answers your question but good luck!
@apark004 @gureum alumni scholarship process is totally separate from admissions. Alumni is solely based off stats, no holistic review at all.90-100 way too high. I think the ucla kid in here said its more like 30% but im not 100% sure. Also, does make sense. A lot of schools calculate fincial aid/scholarship/whatever packages for all applicants ex. Uci and sdsu.
@emli8100 if you were one of those accepted to Cal in February, then I would imagine you are an extremely qualified applicant and have a good shot at UCLA! I don’t know if you meant by your post that you were accepted to Cal, though. Also, I know quite a few people who have applied to both Cal and UCLA in the past. All of those people got accepted to both or neither. Just sayin’!
So the time of release is most likely 5pm?
@emli8100 that does happen! my brother was a straight A student, good ec’s and test scores, good amount of hours, and good leadership positions got flat out rejected from UCLA, waitlisted to berkeley but got in! I hope that happens to me, i got rejected to ucsd but accepted into state, SLO, and irvine… everyone always takes a fat L before something great happens.
Can any one pl clarify what ppl here mean by " cal " . Is it UC berkely or something else. Sorry for my ignorance… international …
@USUG21 yes cal is berkeley
Oh ok… why such spl status to berkey all others are also university of california
@USUG21 Berkeley was the first UC and the flagship of the system, although UCLA now is close in stature. It used to be that no one called it UC Berkeley, just Cal or Berkeley.
@youcee thanx.
do alumni scholarship notifications happen at the same time?
I’m not sure but I think it’s like a week after decisions
Are all decisions being released tomorrow?
@Carlosgrimess Yeah!
