@cxprus What is category 3?
Does the email mean anything?
@teachmama2 Here is a guide to Ucla emails. http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/2025808-ucla-class-of-2022-applicant-thread-p14.html
I’m sorry, but have the alumni scholarship emails all been sent out? I’m just a bit confused.
No one received anything from UCLA regarding scholarship etc so far @mofro1
Got all excited this morning with all the posts…but alas…nothing to see here.
It’s a safe bet that for UCLA they will come out 4:59 pm, so don’t expect anything until then
today?
@rickge12 we can’t know until 4:59
Does anyone know how many they send? Someone said it was the top 20% of applicants, but someone else said it was only 4000 people.
@ViolaMom12
I’ve heard varying amounts. UCLA website say up to 100 but that seems low. http://www.financialaid.ucla.edu/Prospective-Student/Scholarships#495691562-ucla-regents-scholarship
Thanks. I was just wondering how many are invited to apply for Alumni Scholarship. I think the 100 is how many get Regents.
@ViolaMom12 From very credible sources it’s 20%. I have never heard of the 4,000 figure before.
The deadline for the Alumni scholarship application is on 2/19. Weird that they haven’t sent out invites yet.
Thanks @10s4life. So they are going to invite 20,000 people to apply for something that’s due in less than a week? I I am OOS, and there is no way my child wins this anyway. I am just new to this and trying to understand. Thanks so much for your helpful posts.
@sandiegodad2017 @ViolaMom12 With the increase in apps it is likely invites are no longer occurring as the scholarships need less advertising. You do not need an invite to apply so at this point any invite would just be a reminder.
@10s4life When applying to graduate schools, do most graduate schools know about the GPA “deflation” at UCLA, or will they just look at a UCLA student’s GPAs and see it is lower than it could be so they reject them?
@Ploince Grade deflation is really department specific. For instance most north campus majors do not suffer from grade deflation. However other schools are smart enough to realize the average gpa from students of competing schools. The school isn’t the number 1 ranked public school for nothing
@10s4life Good to know
Nothing.
