UCLA Class of 2022 - Applicant Thread

accepted!! does anyone know if there’s a fb group?

@anxiousjunior19 thank u!! anthropology for both schools and im from northern california

I haven’t posted on this thread but just posting for any future applicants/waitlist applicants:
I was accepted out of state with a 4.00 UW gpa, 4.2 W, 28 act, and 1330 SAT. I did a decent amount of EC’s, but most importantly they were all very distinct. I also wrote killer essays Lapparently because I’ve been accepted to all of the UC schools I’ve applied to so far. This post signifies that, YES, you can get into UCLA or other good schools without top stats. Just make sure your Ecs and essays are good and you have a great chance!

Accepted into UCSD but rejected from UCLA:(

Undeclared
OOS
UW GPA: 3.6
W: 4.1
SAT: 1460

Accepted!

Updating my post (#1668) D was accepted to UCLA and waitlisted at UCSD (not rejected as I originally thought). It’s still strange as I thought UCLA was more difficult to get into than UCSD. D is very happy as she prefers UCLA over UCSD.

How do you know if you got regents?

My financial award is a “University Achievement Scholarship”. Is that Regents?

best day of my life. so many months of agonizing stress was worth it!! 35 ACT, 3.83 UW, 4.42W

@helpmegetinlol Same here, bro. Cant wait to see everyone on campus

@MatthewW12 That’s not Regents but congrats! Ucla has offered you a merit scholarship.

Accepted into UCLA for astrophysics
1480 SAT
4.2 W GPA
Decent Extracuriculars
White Male Middle Class

YES! SHE GOT ACCEPTED!!

@usma87 …same 1 accepted 1 rejected, I’m bitter it makes zero sense. Pray she gets into UCB…both got into UCI Honors, UCSB, UCSC all early. Waitlisted for UofChicago. NEED UCB!!!

I got accepted! I’m so happy!!!

@grundeis : yours is not regent.

Hello UCLA freshman applicants! Congratulations on finally knowing the results of your application! I myself am a transfer applicant this year so my results will come out next month in April, but I applied as a freshman last year (got waitlisted, didnt get in) and would like to give you some advice. First of all, to those of you who got accepted, congratulations! You should be very proud of your acceptance letters and you deserve to attend a world-class university like UCLA!

Second, to those of you who got waitlisted, you will most likely find out the final status of your decision in early June, meaning there still awaits many more months of the painful waiting game. I myself was waitlisted last year, and it honestly sucked. The chances of getting off the UCLA waitlist are realistically so low, and from what I read it seems like the waitlisted Out of State and International applicants have a better chance than the In State applicants at getting off the waitlist, since OOS and Intl applicants pay far more in tuition and are thus preferred. In all, I just want to say that being waitlisted was one of the most painful, slow, agonizing experiences I had last year, so it’s adviseable to have a solid back up plan in place if you got waitlisted.

Lastly, to those who got outright rejected, please know that this does not mean that you are unworthy of attending UCLA, this is simply because UCLA receives so many outstanding applicants each year (over 100,000) and they can only fill a freshman class of about 6,500 - meaning many excellent applicants will have to be denied. But if UCLA remains your dream university like it was in my case, your best option is to attend a California Community College and reapply as a transfer applicant in 2-3 years (some, like me, may even be able to apply as a transfer after only one year at CC because of AP Credit or dual enrollment). There are many incentives to applying as a transfer to UCLA from CCC - it’s overall much easier to get in as a transfer than as a freshman (some non-impacted majors like History have a 63% transfer acceptance rate!), SAT/ACT scores are irrelevant as a transfer (great for people like me who suck at standardized testing!), you apply directly to your major as a transfer, community college classes tend to be quite easy to earn As in so you can boost your college GPA, and many CCCs offer Honors Programs where if you take a certain number of Honors classes you can get TAP certified which will give you PRIORITY consideration for UCLA transfer admission AND the ability to be considered for an alternative major! In all, if you really want to attend UCLA, consider going the community college route and applying as a transfer - you will not only save thousands of dollars in tuition, but you will also graduate with the SAME UCLA diploma as the students who got in as freshmen! Don’t give up hope! The CCC route is a great second chance at UCLA!

Accepted to L&S OOS from NW Florida!!! Still in absolute shock, but this is the best day of my life!!!

Major: Geography/Environmental Studies
ACT: 32
GPA: 3.92 UW/4.58 W (Don’t know UC GPA)
SATII: 710 US History
ECs: 4 years Improv Troupe/Improv Troupe president, 4 years varsity swimming/Swim team captain, NEHS President, varsity tennis, NHS, SNHS, NTHS, Rho Kappa, Mu Alpha Theta, Latin Club/Latin Honor Society, Chorus, Job - played gigs with my band, Green Club, other random things
Awards: definitely my most lacking area, nothing special, AP Scholar with Distinction, can’t even remember the others
Hooks: strong upward trend after sophomore year if that counts, but other than that literally none, white upper middle class male
APs: 14 total - 1 sophomore year, 6 junior year, 7 senior year (listed 8 at the time but dropped one), 3 3s - AP world, APES, and Art History, 2 4s - APUSH and AP lang, 1 5 - Human Geo
Essays: very strong in my opinion, probably a big deciding factor

UCLA isn’t a safety school for anyone.

i got in!! anyone know how to check financial aid or find out if you were awarded a merit scholarship??

@musicalitty It should be on your portal
