Reflection:
Strengths: Statewide Path, First Generation, my grades had an upward trend, heavy involvement in my ECs, good essays
Weaknesses: bad grades freshman year, no honors courses until my junior year, only two AP courses, I applied to an extremely competitive major, low standardized tests scores, not in a sport, no work experience, I was not at the top of my class
Why I think I was Rejected: I did not have the academic stats and work ethic required to be admitted to UCLA, especially to the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering.
Acceptances: Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, CSULB, LSU, SDSU, SJSU, University of Arizona, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside
Waitlists: UC Davis, UCSD
Rejections: Colorado School of Mines, Purdue, USC
General Comments: I was never expecting to be admitted to UCLA, it’s a prestigious school that accepts the cream of the crop. With a competitive major like engineering, my chances were slim to none. But still, I applied to UCLA as a far reach school. When I was rejected I was not bothered at all, as I already knew what my chances were. I am happy to say that I will be attending Cal Poly SLO this fall for civil engineering.
Congrats to everyone who got into UCLA, it is an amazing school with so much to offer!!! To those who were waitlisted or rejected just remember that the school you go to does not define you.
