Just as a PSA. I was admitted on May 1, and am now in the facebook group; each day there is a crop of new posts with something on them like “I was just admitted today off the waitlist”. Most of these posts are out of students. It seems possible that UCLA may have moved away from “waves” and is now sending out individual acceptances to fill small gaps in the class.
However, this doesn’t mitigate the fact that their will be “summer melt” this summer. What that means, though, is that students on the waitlist may be strung along through summer, and ultimately rejected anyways because there simply isn’t space. The truth is that historically 80% of students on the waitlist are not admitted, and that accounts for normal levels of summer melt from previous years. Good luck to everyone on this forum! Your dedication to this thread and UCLA is just evidence that you will be successful at whatever you are passionate about (wherever that may be).
Out of curiosity, everyone here had to commit to another college while waiting for the waitlist decision, would you mind sharing what college that is? My son SIR’d to UCSD Biochemistry. We are IS (NorCal). No one on the UCLA waitlist from his school has gotten in, including him.
@FitnessMom2024 I also submitted my SIR for UCSD (but as a Communication major). I am in state (Riverside County) and got off the waitlist for UCLA last week. Wishing your son the best of luck!
