UCLA Community College Transfer Alumni Scholarship

I received this email saying,
"We invite you to apply for one of UCLA’s oldest and most prestigious scholarships, offered by the Alumni Scholarships Program. For over 77 years, a select group of distinguished Bruins have had the honor of being known as Alumni Scholars."

Of course, this might be a silly question, but does anybody know if this might mean "something else" besides the invitation itself. And, please, don't copy/paste "This is an announcement of the UCLA Alumni Scholarships Program and is not an indication of admission. Admission decisions will be sent directly from the UCLA Admissions Office. UCLA Alumni Affairs maintains its own schedule and assumes no responsibility for the timing, policies or decisions of UCLA Undergraduate Admission."

Me too! It looks like it’s sent out to everyone with a 3.75 or higher. Likely doesn’t mean much :frowning: haha

I got it too. Haha you warned me just in time before copying and pasting that ending email statement! ;))

Me too. UCLA seems to offer the most scholarship opportunities compared to the other UCs.

Got it as well.

It may mean we’ve been admitted, but it’s best not to assume so. Still, it certainly looks like a good sign!

Supposedly about 80% get accepted. It’s not sent to everyone. Someone who works with the alumni said of 80,000 freshmen applicants about 4000-5000 get invites. The positive is these folks’ names are sent over to the alumni group from the admissions office, so they are essentially the stand-outs from the first rounds. In terms of transfers, last year 85 scholarships were given out. The process seems so harrowing and they are seriously looking for Rhodes Scholar types, my daughter who got her invite today, is passing in it- and I concur.

Google UCLA alumni scholarship and a post from earlier this year on CC will show up right away. Also here is a PDF from the alumni website on it. https://alumni.ucla.edu/scholarships/ASP%20Information%20Session%20Presentation%20-%20Online.pdf

I got it as well. Does it imply anything? If so, I will be very excited!

To be honest, I do think getting the email means much cause I got it too and I don’t think I have such a good shot. Have a ~3.73? GPA, no ECs just work, and probably alittle above average essays applying as a biochemistry major which is really competetive. Also I am potentially missing 1-3 prerequisites (articulated courses are changing) I mean it’s possible and I would really love to get into UCLA but my situation makes it seem unlikely

EDIT: i do actually have a ~3.8_ cc GPA.

Lol I don’t know why you guys think it means anything when the email flat out says it doesn’t mean anything. The UCLA Alumni Affairs is its own thing. They aren’t collaborating with Admissions.

Lol we’re just trying to be optimistic. I think we’re starting to believe anything means something in this long wait

@anavera

@ocnative I guess. I’m not letting myself get my hopes up. Lowers my disappointment when/if I get rejected.

I got an email as well, but there’s no reason to complete the application until after a decision has been made by admissions.

Hi, does anyone know if we should only include things in our application that we are currently doing, or is it okay to put things in from high-school or that we stopped doing a few months ago? Thanks!
