Do the UCLA Computer Store Prices change for different times of the year? I was wondering about this because I wanted to purchase a Macbook Pro for college. A few months ago (2-3 months) the store offered a previous generation of Macbook Pro's for $1500. Now, however, only the current generation Macbook Pros are offered for about $1700 or $1800. Does this mean that I can't buy the $1500 version I saw earlier this year? And if so, should I wait again in hopes of price reduction during another part of the year? Or should I just buy a refurbished Macbook Pro (I don't really need a new one and I've heard Apple refurbished products are always in good condition)?

Generally deals on an older model means a clearance sale so they are probably completely sold out and won't be getting more. The deals do vary slightly throughout the year but probably won't be as good as the $1500 MBP clearance sale.

I'd check out a different university's computer store website, since UCLA is extremely pricey still. I bought my laptop from University Computers - boston university's website. I would wait until the new Macbook Pro gets released during Q3 (September) if you can hold on, you'll either get a brand spanking new beauty or get a much cheaper (and faster) old school macbook pro that works just as great.

University Computers has a deal for the MacBook Pro identical to that of UCLA Store's. $1799. $1500 is not likely except in the case of another clearance. That's a HUGE discount.

Make sure you compare the warranties and equipment as well

i think they have the MBP 2.5 for 1999 now, and the MBP 2.4 for 1749.

they might still have some previous gens in stock. you can call and ask i suppose. many apple retailers also have stock on previous gen macs. you wont get the education discount though.

Can we buy if we don't have our Bruin card yet? The order form asks for a Bruin card #. Is this different than UID#, because it later asks for that too?

I e-mailed that exact same question last year to the computer store and this was their reply.

If you don't have your bruin id yet, as long as you have received an acceptance letter. That will have your
bruin id #.

Okay, so it sounds like Bruin ID# = UID#. Can someone with a Bruin Card confirm that for me? If you're like liyana, a copy-paste works fine. ;)

YES IT IS 10ch
