My 10th/11th grade GPA is 3.90 (weighted) and my ACT score is 23
I take all IB classes (both junior & senior year)

My EC's are pretty stable- Student Council President, NHS, Spanish NHS, Varsity Track & School District Student Advisory Board

I do a lot of volunteering & ed programs, no job.

In my personal statements I wrote 1) About how my brother who has autism impacts my life and how he has shaped my dreams in aspirations and 2) My leadership roles and how it relates to the person I am today.

I am also an out of state student, FGC student and African American...

Do I have a chance ?? I also applied to UC Berkeley

High Reach for both, your ACT score is really low for both of these schools, your GPA is a little on the low side (not too bad but still) but your ECs are good. I wish you the best of the luck though

GPA is not as high as others because my high school does not offer AP or honors during the first two years, which is denoted in my application and why I take all IB classes now.

Well the above poster are right in that your ACT is really really low for these schools. Your essay seems like its about something truly personal so if you wrote it well it could possibly redeem you, but dont get your hopes up. African American is an advantage, as well as your course-load, out of state is not. Id say reach for UCLA, high reach for Berkeley.

For people who say that you being African American helps, it does not actually, since affirmative action was struck down in CA. That’s why UCB has about 42% of its students as Asian-American. With your low ACT, it’s a massive reach for both schools
