UCLA - Do I have a chance?

Hey guys!
It's been my childhood dream to get into UCLA.
Here are my stats:
Freshman GPA= 3.67
Sophomore GPA= 2.75 <this gpa="" is="" low="" because="" i="" got="" really="" sick="" during="" sophomore="" year="" and="" had="" to="" miss="" school="" lowering="" my="" gpa.="">
Junior GPA= [approximately 3.5]
Overall GPA so far is 3.3.
SAT Reasoning test= 1700 <i'll be="" taking="" this="" again="" in="" october="" for="" a="" higher="" score.="">
I'm taking my SAT II's next month in Latin, Literature, and US History.
-Four Year Latin Student
-Won National Latin Exam Medals
-Honor Roll
-Will be volunteering for Red Cross. I was it in Freshman year too, but due to my bad health in Sophomore year I had to drop out of it.
-I've taken 4 AP classes so far, and I plan on taking about 6 AP tests my senior year. I also passed an AP exam that I took sophomore year. Also, I just took 3 AP exams this year.
-Ethnicity: Pakistani (Female)</i'll></this>

I kind of know my grades are not up to par to the standard of UCLA, but I am a fairly good writer and I know I can write a well written personal statement. Also, I can get fairly good recommendation letters from my teachers.

My sophomore year totally ruined my GPA. =(

Do I have chance of getting into UCLA with a Psychology major? =(
My friend told me that I have a better chance of getting into UCLA because I'm a minority, and that since most Pakistani girls [or Pakistani's in general] do not strive for majors like Psychology, it would create less competition. I highly doubt it.

Are you in-state? That can make a lot of difference.
If you can explain your sickness and situation, you’re probably ok.
Your SAT is really low. I would seriously work on it. Any idea what your UC gpa is?

On the minority part… I’ve never heard of pakistani as being minority. And UC’s aren’t even supposed to look at ethnicity.

raise your scores.

Do you have a chance? Yes! Is it great, No. Both your gpa and test scores are too low.

Will being a Pakistani help, No; there a plenty of Asians in California. Your only chance is to develop a hook, which means find some personal challenge to overcome that you can write about. For example, overcoming an eating disorder worked for a low stat girl at our HS.

The UCs do not accept recommendations.

UCLA average UC GPA: 4.2
Averge SAT: 2050

@ cyberchondriac … yes, I am in-state. I thought that too, but my friend insisted that since I’m a minority I might have a higher chance. I’m thinking of writing about how I got sick, yet I didn’t stop trying and really worked hard, and especially during junior year. Which is true. Also, I have a really good reason as to why I would like to become a Psychologist, which has to do with my culture and some restraints and overcoming them.

I’m taking the SAT II’s this June and hopefully I can get a good score.
I’m retaking the SAT reasoning test in October for a higher score of at least 2000. If not, I’ll probably be stuck going to UC Riverside or UC Merced, which don’t get me wrong isn’t bad, but I’d rather go to UCLA. :(

Does being a four year Latin student help in any scenario? Since, not the majority of students take Latin.
