Ucla-dream School

I really want to get into UCLA...but with my gpa it doesnt seem like I will..should I focus on my essays and SATS or just give up and attend a different college...

more info needed for evalution request.

yeah sat + gpa at least and some info on your extracurrics and residency etcetc

go to community college first (great alternative route if UCLA is your dream school)...just be sure to do TAP.

Regardless of the school, you should focus on your SATs and essays.

And either way, there's no harm in applying.
You never know. I certainly didn't think I would make it in.

gpa is around a 3.6..pretty bad..uhm taking sats this weekend...i kind of want to apply to see if i can get accepted..but i really dont think i will and i dont want to disappoint myself

hey kalasin, what were your stats?

Look up "decisions" in the search thing as thread title in UCLA forum. YOu'll find stats.

My GPA was 3.86.
SATs were around 2000. SAT IIs were averaged to about 650.
ACTs were 30.
In-state. Crappy public school.
Decent, but not spectacular extracurriculars.
I think the essays really tipped the scale though.

And the only reason I applied to UCLA in the first place was because my guidance counselor told me to apply to a "reach" school. And here I am now. :)

And honestly, I think you'd be even more dissappointed in yourself if you didn't apply.

just apply, its all on the same application, there is no extra effort from you except for checking the ucla box. ... there is no reason to not apply. (and if its application fees, you can get that waved if your poor.)

thanks for the reply..i was just wondering if i hsould put down an undeclared major or should i put down accounting/pharmacy

it doesnt really matter much within the college of letters and science. if ur interested in an impacted major, go ahead and apply now (i.e. engineering) cuz it's hard to transfer into later on.

ucla doesnt have an accounting major . or a pharmacy major.

i really wanna go to ucla and if i get accepted i was wondering whats the best route for me to take (if i wanna major in pharmacy) even though they dont have a pharmacy major..should i major in chem and then in grad school go to UOP or somewhere

up to you, you should major in something that gives you a high gpa for pharmacy school ........

but shouldn't i also major in something closely related to pharmacy?

Your GPA and SAT score are the same as mine and UCLA is also my dream school. Apply.. cuz there's no hurt in trying.

highschoolda should answers your questions regarding pharm school.

based on what i know from him, you want the highest possible GPA and PCAT score to get into pharmacy schoool, if the highest possible gpa is from majoring in art, then major in art, however in order to get accepted into pharm school, you have to meet the requirments. like 1 year of bio, 1 year of organic, 1 year of physics, etc, etc ,etc, thats why a lot of people major in biochemistry or chemistry , or biology or something like that because they have to take thouse courses anyways for pharm school.

would pharm school be considered grad?...and what are the top pharm schools. thanks
