** UCLA Economics Decision Thread **

Anyone here applying for economics for Fall 2014?
Post your stats below.
Also, does anyone know the admit rate for Economics last year (for Freshman)?

Was it 14%?

Economics, do you mean pre-business Econ? I declared that as my major for my UCLA APP.
Stats:
ACT:33 (35 super scored)
SAT: did not submit
SAT 2: 710(math 2c) 650(US history)
AP Scores: AP Chem, AP US History, AP Psych, AP Euro, AP Lang (5’s on all of them except for AP chem)
Senior Year course load: AP Econ, AP Calc, AP Lit, Ceramics, Student Government

UC GPA: 4.3
Unweighted GPA: 3.9

You are confused about the Economics major(s). The college of Letters and Science makes admission decisions without regards to intended major. If you happened to list Econ when applying it means nothing; you are not an Econ major if UCLA accepts you, just a pre-Econ major. The more popular majors like Econ, Comm Studies, etc. have a pre-major and you do not get accepted into the actual major until you finish the prerequisite classes with a specified GPA. Anybody in the entire university can take these prerequisite classes, there is no need to be a pre-Econ major to take them.

Pre-Econ here.
Accepted with 2240 and 4.59/3.9 GPA.

Son accepted, mid-2300’s SAT, 800 on Math 2 and science subject tests, uncapped UC GPA is ~ 4.65. Got several Regents but not UCLA

Pre-Econ was my major, accepted!
ACT: 33
SAT 2: Math 2C :710 US History: 650
UC GPA: 4.30
Unweighted GPA: 3.9
