I thought i would post this for any who didnt get it...and to give us a chance to start talking about when we are going 2 get loans, and how were gonna pay for school, etc.

Once you review the eFAN, if you accept Perkins, Subsidized, Unsubsidized
or Graduate PLUS Direct Loan for the first time at UCLA you will also be
required to complete a Debt Management Session/Entrance Exam. The session
is available on line at www.loans.ucla.edu; click on the 'Debt Management'
tab and follow instructions.

For specific questions regarding the Debt Management Session, please contact the
Loan Services Office at (310) 825-9864 and choose option '8'.
If you are a professional student, please contact the
Financial Aid Office at your school for additional eFAN and
general Debt Management Session/Entrance Exam information.

EDIT: looks pretty darn easy to accept money offered! just clicking a bubble to accept thousands of dollars, how awesome lol

lol yeah I dont know…there is always that one person who will be like *** why didnt i get this email and go check haha…UCLA was extremely generous I think.

^^ work study is better financially than a job unless that job is making significantly more…

because when you do work study it will not count into how much money you make for the year when you file for the following year financial aid…so you can still say you made 0$ for the year if you get the 2k from the work study rather than frmo a job

I am pretty sure if you make under $3000 from a reg job you are not required to file a tax return… And even then I don’t think an income of 3k would change your EFC…

this is just my opinion, someone correct me if im wrong…

but i think they expect you to contribute most or all of what you made when you file the fafsa you enter what you earned and how much is in ur bank account…my student contributing amount was like 6$ and i think that might go up if i listed making 3000 or so

I got mine too, but I do have a question, i updated my FAFSA like a week ago…so the amount of my parents’ income changed, by like around 1000$, now that my eFan is available, does it mean that the change that I have made recently has not affected anything at all?

@conniek - I would call the financial aid office to find out if updating fafsa is sufficient or if you need to submit a special circumstance request…

@Eshug- I may be different because I am classified as independent & the first 10k of my income didn’t effect my EFC but I had 18k income initially then had to fill out a special circumstance because I am no longer working & that brought my EFC down to 0.

mmm, before I update, i went to financial aid office, asking if i need to inform them of the changes in any other way than updating on FAFSA online? they told me to just go ahead and do it online, they dun need anything else… i guess i would prob just leave it unless they contact me or something?

btw, when accepting the award, there’s a line asking us to report any other award (like loans, scholarship) listed on eFan, what if I am borrowing money from relatives? is that considered a self-reported loan too??

are your relatives reporting the loan to the Irs? If not, then I wouldn’t consider it necessary to report it… that seems like a personal matter between family but you may want to ask others on this board…

I already got my eFAN, but does getting a summer job affect your financial aid? would i have to go into my fafsa and put in whatever i make from the job as student income?

Is anybody’s Cal Grant showing up on the eFAN? I thought I was supposed to get one but it’s not there. Perhaps because this is the initial eFAN and news about Cal Grants haven’t come out yet? Does anyone know?
