UCLA English Writing Requirements

I am a little confused about what English and/or Writing classes that you have to take as a freshman in the college of letters and science. Is the sequence: Writing I, Writing II, and English Composition 3? I had a hard time finding information on this.

In addition, I would prefer to take as little writing/English classes at ucla as possible given that it is not my best subject. I don't have any AP Lang or Lit credit, so is it possible to take community college classes to satisfy these requirements? Also, is there a time limit as to when all the writing courses need to be completed?

Thanks for the help!

This page should answer most of your questions: http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/catalog/catalog12-13-41d.htm

English Comp 3 fulfills Writing I. Complete Writing I by first 3 terms, Writing II within first 7 terms. I want to say that it’s possible to take writing classes at a community college and transfer them over, however, it may be difficult to get into some required English classes at a CC, and I would recommend taking English/writing classes here because there really are some great professors in that department.

Although my daughter has met the writing requiremets for Writing I, she still feels she would like a strong foundation class at UCLA. So- would you know if Writing I is still an option for her ? Should she take a different class for this? Lastly, are there some recommended professors for this ? Thanks
