UCLA Extension + Concurrent Enrollment

Summary: Any experience/knowledge about this program would be appreciated. Also, do concurrent enrollment students actually get to take science courses? Apparently they are last on the priority list after registered undergrads and then waitlisted people.

Hi All,

I recently graduated from an Ivy League college, but did not plan for med school before getting my Bachelor's. As a result, I'm short of 1 year of biology and 1 year of inorganic chemistry (so, intro bio and biochem).

I'm looking to take individual classes as a post-grad, and at UCLA apparently I have to go the route of Extension + concurrent enrollment in 2013 (I have a job that lasts until then).

I'm worried that I won't actually get to take the Intro Bio classes or the BioChem classes because I'm sure the 1st year science/premed classes fill up like crazy! Are my fears justified?.

If you need the lower-division biology courses, the California community colleges will do. Otherwise, look into concurrent enrollment at the CSUs; the courses might be quite a bit cheaper if you can get in (the CSUs seem to be suffering a bit more from the budget cuts).
